Great Podcast

Hi all,

I just wanted to start an appreciation thread for this podcast. I listen to a wide variety of podcasts and I appreciate the no nonsense flavor of skeptoid, both in its content and its production. Brian gets right into the topic, has a nice linear script, and never lets up on his logical train of thought. This is a truly fulfilling podcast that I learn from and I feel that, after listening to it, I have spent my time well.

Thanks for all your hard work and I hope there are many more to come.

I absolutely agree, for such a short podcast it certainly is informative and it tackles some issues wider than what traditionally skeptics have tackled. Keep up the good work Brian.

I know it's a while now, but I'm new and thought I'd comment. I also love skeptoid, it's one of my favorites. I think it's a perfect complement to SGU, in fact. They fulfill slightly different needs I have for entertainment. I like the meandering, fun, spontaneous yet well-researched SGU. It's great, great skeptical candy.

Skeptoid is more like a well-written newspaper column. A delight to experience well thought-out arguments which are expressed directly and concisely. It always makes me want to take notes and go back to the original source.

I consider these two podcasts to be the twin towers of my regular skeptical intake.

Having come to the world of SGU and Skeptoid via mattdick above, I have to echo his comments precisely.

In particular re:Skeptoid, I love the short, short intro. Nothing extraneous, and immediately diving into the topic. I'm listening to all the shows in order, currently on #32

Oh, and BTW, Brian, I gave you a plug on Orac's Respectful Insolence blog. I'm afraid I disagreed with your position on peddling the paranormal, though! It sounds like you are used to that particular difference of opinion compared to the rest of the skeptical community.

I would like to express my appreciation as well. I began using podcasts as part of the HS Biology/Anatomy classes I teach. I try to take one class per week to bring in various critical thinking activities, current events, etc. which relate to what we are doing in class. Your podcasts are perfect for my classes - interesting topics, well covered, easy to understand, and only about 10 minutes long. The kids have really caught on to them, and it is a fun addition to my classes. Thanks for a great show.

Again, a general appreciation post

I found Skeptoid through some of the other podcasts I listen to, and after grabbing a couple of episodes on subjects that interested me, I soon went back to the beginning and am listening to everything.

Favourite episodes so far are oddly enough not really the remit of the show - the identifying and explaining illogical fallacies was a joy to listen to. It's amazing how many of the arguments that seem persuasive are paper thin when you take a moment to examine them.

I'll be around a bit more when I'm on the more recent episodes, may even have a suggestion or two, though my wonderings about honey have been pre-emptively answered!

Anyway great podcast, and it's a shame Brian is a shape-shifting lizard working for the big corporations, but he can still make me smile.
