GOP's ACORN Moment

I thought Acorn was righteous?

They were, as a group, innocent of any wrong doing and were following the law when the submitted every registration they received, even if they were sure it was fraudulent.

I don't know the details of what happened with this group, but if they were doing the same thing, this was unfair to them, as well.

The President's doing an outstanding of directing attention away from his failure to take responsibility for this lousy economic recovery. I don't think Republicans would even have to manufacture these voter registration controversies if Obama wasn't so awful.

I wouldn't call it a "moment". I'd call it their own ACORN. Cue the official GOP hypocritical response in 3, 2, 1....

I see we already have said hypocritical response in the thread.

My question to the resident right wingers: Please list/tell specifically how this differs from what ACORN was vilified for?

It would appear to be another case of a worker being paid per registration and faking a few.

Stick to the topic of the thread, please.

The only difference is that this guy didn't get his funding cut yet, and he's getting away with what appears to be federal crimes.

Then there was the guy who was asking people "obama or romney" and only registering people for Romney. That's a flat-out crime, too.

Oddly, there is no substantial evidence of criminality on the part of the Obama camp, and enormous, pervasive evidence on the part of the Romney campaign. In a sane country, they'd be in jail awaiting trial.

What? If Obama were better Republicans wouldn't have to manufacture controversies? Republicans have to manufacture controversies because Obama is awful?

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

I believe it has something to do with rationalizing away one's cognitive dissonance, but there may be a more precise term for it.

I suspect that it was a joke.
