But the stripper in the Danish parliament was the porn star Dina Jewel. She gave a body tequila to Peder Sass in 1999.

It was part of a satire/comedy-program called "Indefra" ("From the inside") - that title was a parody of another, more serious program called "Udefra" ("From the outside") - a news program about foreign affairs.

Anyway. "Indefra" was famous for making not-so-subtle fun of the politicians, getting them to participate in silly game shows and acts.

I know, Cicciolina was Italian, but she also did her trick in Norway and possibly in other countries while visiting as a representative of Italy. However, what happened to the link(s)? With pictures? :)

It wouldn't make any sense. Nobody knows what "NRA" means in Denmark, Armageddon isn't a very big thing with most Danish Christians and we don't bomb abortion clinics here.

For something to be funny, there has to be some sort of context.

We have had plenty of caricatures of Jesus and Christians, though. Some far, far worse that these drawings.

Latest developments:

One of the drawings is being put up for auction, with the money going to the quake victims in Pakistan. The bidding starts at $128, which is what the cartoonist got paid for it originally.

Pakistan, however, has now officially condemned the drawings, and claims to speak for 57 Muslim countries. A Fatwa against the newspaper may be on the horizon.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised to see any of that, except for the NRA part, for the reasons Claus gave. There'd probably have to be some sort of reasons for it, like a fundementalistic Christian sect making some insane proclamation, but I doubt it would be ragarded as a big deal in that case. The Danish state religion is pretty much apathetic agnosticism.

History, and the History Channel, are well aware of the broader issues involved! I say we boycott History and the History Channel!!!

We are at a point in History that more Brady Bunch and less factual reality is needed to calm the "scum" of the present generation.

Forcing immigrants to learn French is psychological torture. In a world crying for realistic solutions the French force their nation to admire ambiguity. Who can honestly say they can conjugate a French verb? Everyone is at a disadvantage so the elite continues to dominate French culture with second rate philosophers who are unheard of outside of France.

There is more social thought in Bob Dylans worst song than in any post-WWII French philosophy.
