Good news for Obama

Just came across this and this. This is way, way beyond the pale.

(Shrug)

That's the problem with building your career on being a shock jock, as Ted Rall -- and, for that matter, Ann Coulter, or so many deservingly obscure "performance artists" -- did. You have to keep going deeper and deeper into the lunatic fringe, since yesterday's shocking sensation is today's boring snoozer.

The problem is that the law of diminishing returns. At first, it is enough to say that Bush is retarded, or that 9/11 widows are whiners, to get attention. But pretty soon... what did you say? Bush is Hitler? Liberals are mass murderers of millions of babies? Yaaaawn.... it's been done.

If the decline in their readership goes on much further, the next thing you know Rall and Coulter will start a dual pornographic sex show in Vegas. Which will be cancelled a month later due to lack of anybody coming to see it, as the shock value wore off after the third night.

I can't really think of anybody who claimed he was messianic other than repubs and supporters of opponents, and that was only because some of Obama's supporters were passionate (oh noes!).

Yep. Although I would like to see "Skeptic" supply examples of the "far left" hailing the "Obamessiah." Or at least try. Instead I see this all too common show lamenting the "fringes." It's particularly annoying when right-wing nutcases do it in a bid for credibility. Even more annoying are the soliloquies:

If the decline in their readership goes on much further, the next thing you know Rall and Coulter will start a dual pornographic sex show in Vegas.

Um, yeah, for sure...

I'm pretty hard left, and I'm disappointed by Obama, but not surprised. I never thought he was anything other than a moderate (for the US).

I never had any illusions, at all. Though I think at heart he is a liberal, I felt all along that Obama would attempt to govern more from the center than the left.

And, despite my liberal leanings, that's fine with me.

The Democratic Party can't even stand up for gay marriage and pot legalization, so how where will they find the courage to push back against their corporate masters? And now that they're back in power they can make empty promises to the public while raking in ungodly amounts of cash from the usual players who pay the party in power.

I couldn't agree more. I have never joined the Democratic party (or any other political party) and this is why. Of course, this has been my opinion for a long time, and I never expected that Obama's presidency would change matters.

That said, I would much rather have Obama continue what he's doing than implement policy that would please the likes of Ted Rall.
