God is an outdated concept

A-theism is the only rational viewpoint, in my opinion. It regards the physical world as it is. It doesn't throw up it's hands and say "let God sort it out", or "God works in mysterious ways" when a valid question is asked - Atheism seeks the answer through scientific reasoning. There is nothing that has happened or that ever will happen that isn't explainable through the filter of the world as we know it. The concept of God is so far from rationality that it is self-insulating. "Blind faith" indeed.

The only rational viewpoint is to have an open mind. Atheism denies the possibility that a god or the God exists. The most rational approach is to say "there is no direct evidence a god exists, therefore I will not worship him (her/it)".

The concept of a god, or the God, as an all-mighty, all-knowing entity is indeed in all likelihood severely flawed, but a lesser version, of an entity with knowledge and capabilities to manipulate matter and energy above and beyond an observers' capabilities to comprehend is not much less than that.
Our present technology could make us gods to Cro-magnon people, for example.

See in my mind it's not so much about not believing that God exists, but that there is evidence that he does not. The difference is key.

I don't believe there is anything that has happened or that ever will happen that can't be explained by methods that originate in the natural world. No intervention by God is necessary. The world works as it does and humans and our religions will one day die off and may never show up again.
