Seems the person who made the bigfoot/Jesus image followed Roger Patterson's approach on making bigfoot renderings.

Maybe it just shows someone trying to fool Jesus with a bigfoot costume...

On a more serious note, IIRC, it is the same costume model used to reproduce with success the allegedly impossible-to-be-reproduced-by-humans "Patty walk" right in front of Meldrum's eyes.

Well, IMHO yes- To show how silly bigfootery can be. Also to show the association of religious nuts with bigfootery, something I more than once talked about (backed by evidence) and was more than once questioned and attacked by footers who were supposed to know better. Their close association with certain members of the bigfoot community, known to be fundies or even something I can only labell as extremists, should have been enough to tell them I am correct.

Why they failed to acknowledge this, I can only guess as either being a desire to hide the fact that a number of footers share the belief in bigfoot with other wacky beliefs or just friendship/community ties avoiding the recognition of this fact.

Maybe I should say kudos for SweatyYeti for disclosing his belief in other fringe subjects.
 
Yes, I see what you mean. Another born-again Christian with entrenched bigfoot belief was/is JREF member 154. I confronted him about bigfoot in a Noah's Ark thread in the Religion forum, where he had to concede -- at first reluctantly, later fervently -- that bigfoot and mate must have been on the Big Bloated Boat, too.

If we can imagine Noah tending a caged pair of bigfoot(s) on the Ark, wedged in between a couple of dinosaurs in their cages, or perhaps adjacent to a mated pair of chupacabras, we begin to fathom just how inextricable from spiritual faith this cryptozoological belief system is.

It further occurs to me that belief in bigfoot may corroborate, in the minds of Christian fundamentalists and creationists, the concept of "kinds" which is essential to their anti-evolution stance. If monolithic, meanie-head "SCIENCE" can be shown to have been wrong about bigfoot fossils, bigfoot evidence, bigfoot existence, then it's but a short leap to the notion that SCIENCE is wrong about all fossils, all evidence of evolution and speciation.

Vort, some crypto fundies belive, in their ignorance of science, that if an extinct creature is found alive (say, a pterosaur), then evolution will be denied.

Bigfoot, they hope, will be identical to or affiliated to some species taken by scientists (whose minds were polluted by Satan's lies) as "ancestors" of humans or some sort of "missing link". And again, in their ignorance, this would deny evolution.
 
Yes, that does appear to be an unspoken agenda among some BF believers.

When I believed in the possibility of bigfoot's existence, it was from an evolutionary perspective as with Krantz et al. Finding and cataloging the animal would have been a purely zoological/primatological endeavor, and determining its phylogeny and species nomenclature a thoroughly scientific pursuit.

Religious belief is not required for belief in bigfoot, but it does seem to help entrench such belief until it is inextricable from one's worldview.

I've always thought that belief in Bigfoot might come somewhat easier for the strongly religious. They already have embraced one entity that cannot be confirmed with evidence. Social researchers have found the demographics of Bigfoot believers tending towards politically Conservative Christians.

Hmmm, now that I've seen the closeup, it's clear that Bigfoot is glancing away from Jesus coquettishly, preparing to glance back and flutter his lashes in a come-hither look that's common to primate mating rituals, both ape and human. Run, Jesus, run! :eye-poppi

The differences between the real, photographed bigfoot and the painted, Jesus-adoring bigfoot are numerous and striking.

These bigfoot(s) are obviously not the same individual -- or, at best, they are the same individual photographed and painted at different ages. Perhaps the painting shows the young bigfoot cavorting with Christ; whereas the modern photo is the same 'foot, only now much, much older. Maybe he was granted sainthood by the RCC, and has supernaturally long life, aka St. Sasquatch?

I am dead serious.

The photograph's Bigfoot after a couple of years life in the fast lane with Jesus. You can see the toll it's taken on him.

Poor dumb ape -- never knew what hit him. Now they've split and Jesus moved on to greener pastures, a broken Bigfoot spends his days in McAvene's bar & grill parking lot sniffing exhaust pipes and cadging for drinks.

It looks like the Bigfoot is self-conscious about his skunk-sewage body odor. Jeebus is all about ready to go medieval on some kids, who were making fun of Bigfoot's BO, by releasing some wild bears on their asses.
 
It could be said that Bigfoot is looking at you, the human viewer. They are always aware and totally control the situation so that they cannot ever be scientifically confirmed. See, here we have an oil painting with Bigfoot as a subject which he obviously posed for and we still can't even use this as functional evidence of his existence.
 
All you Hateful Skeptics are surely going straight to Hell, but I have a solution. Since Munns' work is of ten fold greater importance than Jesus', and since he can command Bigfoot Manna to fall from the sky on command, you should cleave off unto him and him only, for it is through His persecution that we are saved, healed and made free from Critical Thinking. The time of the Bigfoot Promise Land draws nigh - Get Right with Munns or get left behind.
