Global climate changes constantly. Always has done.
Climate is (to a first approximation) the movement of fluid masses , (air, water, water vapour) due to varying energy distributions about the globe.
The most general measure of energy in that context would be temperature.

Anything which affects the energy budget as a whole, affects climate.

Adding heat from any source and increasing the heat trapped by the atmosphere through addition of greenhouse gases (CO2 and CH4 for example) adds energy to the global energy budget.

Human activity does this by short circuiting the very slow carbon cycle, through combustion of carbon compounds.

In short. Climate always changes.
We're adding to that.

How about #6: Global warming was occurring as part of the natural cycle, but the cycle has started into it's cooling portion.

Global warming is happening, it's obvious, the science is easy, and anyone who claims not to be convinced either has not bothered to investigate, or has not understood the least little thing, or most likely, has been reading denial bloggers.

The timescales, exact effects, and repercussions are difficult, but it's like lighting a stick of dynamite - we might not be able to predict exactly what happens going off, but the people standing there holding the stick claiming nothing is happening are pretty damn stupid.

Climate does change constantly, but for the past 10,000 years, it's mostly stayed within 1 deg C of the mean. There have been blips, but they have been caused by natural occurrences. The recent trend over the past 100 years, which has accelerated in the past 50 years, shows a sharp rise in temperature heading outside the normal band...and there are no natural causes to explain all of it.

I say GW is occurring and is mostly manmade because it is the steady drip drip drip of anthropogenic CO2 that will prevent temps from returning to the normal band.

All I know is that
- coral reefs are dying all over the world.
- The ice near the poles is melting at a very fast pace.
- We have had the hottest 10 years on record over the last 30 years.
- CO2 in the air is higher than it has been in the past
- CO2 has been proved to be a green house gas
- Humans are putting out CO2 at a huge rate that is not recycled by other methods.

GW is a fact.
and i would say atleast partial man made.

our glaciers are melting very fast.

My understanding of human caused Global Warming is this:

The vast majority of the scientific evidence indicates that Global Warming is definitely happening and that there are almost certainly human influences increasing this?
Am I correct in thinking that?

If that is the case (and I am genuinely asking that) why are there so many who believe this is not the case?

What are the strongest items of evidence they claim counters this and why are they incorrect? Previous threads on the subject appear to degenerate into Ad Homs far too quickly (on both sides) and sources are attacked rather than the data presented.

Since you ask, I'd like to see a better quality global temp. data set.
Why would this convince you? Also, what is 'better quality?' Can we have statistical sample sizes? Uncertainty ranges? Preferred methodology? 'Better quality' is a moving goalpost, if we had temperature sensors set up in an even 1'x1' grid over the surface of the entire earth and all of the ocean, there would still be a 'better quality' (the 6"x6" grid, obv). What is the quality of the current data set, relative to what you wish to see?

Also, do you understand the mechanism that drives the greenhouse effect in general, and global warming? Do you doubt the existence of the greenhouse effect?

Better than what? GISS SEA/LAND Temps? Troposphere? Stratosphere? Higher resolution is always better, but there's a tradeoff. At what point will it be good enough?
