Global thermonuclear war: still a risk?

I disagree that nuclear war over resources is inevitable--though having a nuclear deterrent may very well be a large factor in who are the top players for dwindling resources, should that become an issue.
.

Well, I guess that we will have to agree to disagree. Since we are talking about events in the future, nobody really knows what will happen. In my opinion, it's probably going to be the top players who will be fighting over resources. However, I think there will be many factors involved. Global Climate Change will become more of a factor over time; especially over longer time periods. Religion is likely to play a big role, because God is used in order to justify a wide variety of things. God also has a habit of choosing sides, at least in the minds of the combatants. Human nature, just like any other animal, is to survive, usually at the expense of others. In the wild, animals fight for resources and try to elliminate the competition whenever possible. Humans may be a smarter type of animal, but we respond in similar ways.

Since we have the technology to build nukes, and human nature is what it is, sooner or later, the nukes will be used.

20 syrian protesters were killed this weekend.
many more a few weeks ago.
that's just in the last month.
sounds a lot like violent overreaction to me.
i am not an anti semite.
i am a critic of israel.
heck, thunder is a jew. i like thunder.
WTH? These protesters were killed by Syrian government. If you seriously think their killing was Israel's "overreaction" to something, you are off the deep end.
