Saying sex/porn drives the development of technology is likely untrue, but what it does do is often drive the adoption of new technology. So that people get the high speed connection for the porn and then it lets Youtube and such develop.

Many early photographs where sexual and it was one of the first real pictures that sold.

So that early adopters and such make their mark often from sexual content.

Some posters have taken issue with the "100 billion US dollars" bit, which I too would take issue with.

Still, if we assume this figure is correct, it still means that less than 1/700th of worldwide economic activity has to do with the aquisition of porn.

About 0.14%.

I still don't get this argument, honestly.

Money doesn't disappear. When I spend it on porn, it goes to another person.

If everyone gives a certain percentage to charity, even porn organizations, then what's the problem?
