"Global March Against Chemtrails" January 25, 2014

Here's the Chicago group at the march back in August. They got lucky with the sun today. I'd go but there's hockey in Yankee stadium on TV.

The surgical masks would be more convincing if they didn't keep lowering them to talk. I guess the talking is more important than being geo-poisoned.

Funny how, except for the "marches" in Australia and New Zealand, all of them are well above the equator.

I think this branch of conspiracy thought is perhaps one of the most obviously connected to anti-modernism, which is a strain of philosophy that I think is a "gateway outlook" to CT ideas.

Infecting CT thought is much melancholy at the state of the modern world, a secular repackaging of "the fall" if you will.

These chemtrail CTs are very much right in the middle of this outlook: where science is "playing god too often" and the source of unnatural influence on the planet, responsible for the poisoning of the earth, extinctions and all those attendant environmental problems.

What's frustrating to me is the lumping in of "geo engineering" with chemtrails (like we wouldn't want to be able to influence the weather to our liking??) and the constant pointing to actual real science in this field as somehow supportive of "chemtrail" claims, when they never really offer anything substantive to back up ideas of purposeful chemical spraying to "make the population more docile" or other ill intent common to these ideas.

If we are to find some way to curb accelerating climate change, isn't this exactly the kind of science we should be supporting?

Just read through Andrew Potter's "The Authenticity Hoax" - essentially a book long deconstruction of anti-modern thought - and throughout I found myself thinking of CT adherents in my life and how much they followed this backwards-looking philosophy and how much they were essentially one of the most virulent examples of anti-modernism you can find.

The hippies and the militia crowd both share this deep, abiding hatred of modernity and is one of the places in the Venn Diagram of Extreme Left vs Extreme right where they overlap...

A march of (or for?) stupidity. The sad part is that I know a few otherwise normal folks who subscribe to this silliness. Needless to say, I keep the conversations breezy and apolitical.
 
You have to be prepared when you find woo nuts, hooked on chemtrails.

Have some handouts for DHMO; explain they have no idea the dangers they are fighting in those chemtrails.

Maybe a few will contact the local news sources and news at 5 might fall victim to failed research.

One technique commonly used by endurance athletes in sports such as distance running and cycling is to take a large amount of DHMO immediately prior to a race. This is known within racing circles to dramatically improve performance.
