Try looking up Arctic dipole.
Continental highs are trapped over both northern continents with warmer temps in the high Arctic.
A trapped high gets colder and colder as there ain't no sun this time of year.
It has nothing to due with net energy gain or radiative imbalance.
The Arctic ocean staying warmer longer and far more open ( very little ice in some areas ) is altering WEATHER patterns.
Means nothing regarding AGW other than it's part of change and the dipole pattern has occurred before.
So continental interiors are damned cold in the northern hemisphere.
It's the oceans that count.
Interesting combo with higher atmospheric moisture content.
Increased energy does not always or even often show up as temperature - there are many transforms even within one of those fluffy white cu's - a bit of climate science in the reading list never hurts when trying to participate in a science forum thread on climate.....
Matt's poke at the weather wonkies denier mantra '" look ma it's cold" is well placed....
I can understand how there will be rains in different places but I don't understand this..... If the globe is warming, the ice caps are melting etc how is it possible to get colder? After all, isn't the heat "trapped" due to the greenhouse effect?
