Glenn Beck's crazy board

Just have to repeat my statement that by getting all outraged on Beck craziness, and talking about him, you are giving him just what he wants.

Has 'isolation' of a loon ever really worked? If so, I'd love to see an example.

The best strategy is to mock, ridicule, and cast aside a loon's rantings by showing how extremist, and fact-less, they are to those who may be scared into believing them.

Except that mocking and ridiculing someone only emboldens their base supporters. They then believe you have to resort to such things because you really can't argue against what they are saying. Because generally speaking, people only resort to insult and ridicule when they have little else substantive to offer.

I always get told I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. Mock and ridicule serve no good purpose. (Other than back slapping entertainment for those doing the ridiculing).

First off, I appreciate your example of when isolation wor- oh, nevermind.

Secondly, oh boo-hoo-- a couple of nuts feel persecuted for their crazy beliefs. Which leads me to...

Last but not least, I don't know how you can substantively address something like, say, 'Obama wants to kill 10% of the [Ed: probably majority white) population' except to say *you're effing nuts.

*Not 'you' you, the general 'you'.

Riiight, because the general public is persuaded by substantive arguments.

You know, sometimes mockery is the only reasonable response to insane ideas.

Can I assume you don't agree with the arguments of Beck's that have been presented here? What do you consider to be the appropriate response to them, for example?

Beck makes me laugh, but deep down he makes me sad. Sad because I know he has a large following of people so simple, gullible, and full of hate, that they believe every lie that comes out of his mouth.

I couldn't have put it any better than this...
I agree 100%
