Gingrich on Palestinian textbooks

What's actually in the textbooks is pretty bad, according to the palwatch site. So, why does Newt feel the need to make crap up?
 
the fact that Americans support the Israelis has to be on the basis of religion for the most part. The promised land thing. For that reason there is no rational debate to be had. It's a loser right from the start. And it's more important to them thab the eventual consequences.

Gingrich’s office did not respond to two emailed requests for further comment."

Even Itamar Marcus from Palestinian Media Watch didn't believe Gingrich's claim.

I've skimmed through Palwatch.org briefly, but I think it's kind of difficult to tell the overall context of some of the material judging by mere excerpts, but nothing appears to be as over the top as what Gingrich was claiming.

I posted a news link to NPR and another site about the recent 3 year study on Israeli/Palestinian textbooks, which has been the most in-depth study of the textbooks so far, and it was funded by the US. I imagine it'd probably be more impartial than Palwatch.org. It seems to suggest that the "vilification of Jews" by Palestinian textbooks has been greatly overhyped.

Look at the sort of things the report says is demonization of Arabs in Israeli textbooks:

“Since its establishment, the State of Israel sought to make peace with its
neighbors, the Arab countries, through Israeli-Arab negotiations. Its efforts,
however, have failed in the first thirty years of Israel’s existence, because of the
refusal of Arab countries and nations to recognize the right of existence of Israel 15
as a sovereign Jewish state. In order to harm Israel, to weaken it and destroy it,
the Arab countries have initiated terror attacks, infiltrations into the territory of
the State of Israel and harming the civilian population. The Arab countries have
accumulated weapons and ammunition and strengthened their armies to wage a

All of that is completely true. It's not politically correct but it's true.
