Apart from the one episode of Ghost Hunters with Meat Loaf, the camera crew that follow the hunters around don't seem to have a problem with their batteries going flat. Maybe they use the "ghost proof" ones Stray Cat posted.
From what I see in every episode, GH arrive in cars. Cars are powered by batteries. I don't remember a time when all their car batteries suddenly died on arrival at an investigation, or when they go to leave their car won't start because the ghosts drained it.
As for DC, apart from cooking appliances, most household electronics run on low voltage DC anyway even if they start out as AC.
Confirmation bias ends up turning this stuff into urban legend and then into "fact" thanks to these loony shows. I loathe GH but I have to watch it every week still. Does that make me a masochist?
