Ghislaine Maxwell

She's goddamn 60. Even if we spend the next 10, 20 years rehabbing her into the next Nobel Peace Prize winner she'll be dead before she pays back her debt to society.

That's the problem when old farts commit crimes. What do they have to lose or gain at this point?

It's not AS bad as not being able to do anything to Weinstein or Cosby except take away their adult diaper and senility years, but it's close.

"Non-violent crimes"?

It seems to come up frequently that her crimes were of a non-violent type.

Perhaps I am nit-picking, but I don't necessarily agree. Her crimes took their toll on all involved.

I mentioned that I worked at a sexual assault crisis center and met some of the victims. Not everyone made it out alive, as they spoke of other victims taking their lives.

The repercussions of her and Epstein's fun and games left all victims damaged, some fatally. I hope her time in prison is tortuous.

The whole idea that if I'm aiding a sex slave operation to the degree Maxwell was I'm "non-violent" just because I never got my hands personally dirty is the worst kind of "well ackshually technically..."

If you can be tried for murder because you sat in a police while your partner shot the 7/11 clerk and nobody bothers to start a discussion about where the line between violent/violent adjacent crimes we don't need one here.

....

We all agree she's an evil person. The question came up with regard to how she will be classified for prison assignment. For that specific purpose, I have some doubts that she will be classified as a violent offender. Bernie Madoff stole billions of dollars and wrecked thousands of lives, and even caused his own son to commit suicide, but he went to a Club Fed.

I agree and you are not nit-picking.

Many violent criminals go to prison for a single act of violence. This woman did what she did for years and her actions affected I don't know how many victims. Her crimes are despicable and if the people she delivered these girls to performed violent acts on them then she as just as guilty as they are for those crimes, perhaps more so.

Not according to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure

Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure › TITLE VII. POST-CONVICTION PROCEDURES › Rule 35. Correcting or Reducing a Sentence
"(b) Reducing a Sentence for Substantial Assistance.

(1) In General. Upon the government's motion made within one year of sentencing, the court may reduce a sentence if the defendant, after sentencing, provided substantial assistance in investigating or prosecuting another person."

Oh I'm sure there's a rule allowing it. I just don't see it happening, pretty much ever.

BBC have apologised for giving Dershowitz a platform and, in another poorly judged decision, have changed their headline that was sympathetic to Maxwell.

The Prince Andrew coverage is still pretty biased

Pretty standard for the Beeb: you'd hardly know there was any significant anti-royal sentiment in the country if you went solely by BBC news. Things haven't changed much since they banned the Pistols' God Save The Queen in silver jubilee year.

Although, it must be said that Andrew's ill-advised interview with Emily Maitlis on the Beeb went along way to destroying what little credibility he had - pizza parlours, dodgy sweat glands, "Just an ordinary shooting party..." and all.

Apparently...

One of her brothers was allowed time on r4's Today programme to outline her innocence.

Just the sort of access they provide to the relatives of all paedo-enablers

Giuffre lawyers seek details on Prince Andrew’s claimed inability to sweat
In the Newsnight interview, Andrew claimed he never got sweaty on a dancefloor with Giuffre in 2001, an argument used as evidence that he had never met her.

Giuffre’s lawyers said in court documents that they want Prince Andrew to give them information about his “alleged medical inability to sweat”.

“If Prince Andrew truly has no documents concerning his communications with Maxwell or Epstein, his travel to Florida, New York, or various locations in London, his alleged medical inability to sweat, or anything that would support the alibis he gave during his BBC interview, then continuing with discovery will not be burdensome to him at all,” the documents state.

Always worth linking to this

Just off the top of the dome, wouldn't "not being able to sweat" be a medical problem with serious consequences? How else can the human body regulate temperature and prevent injury or death from overheating?

Global warming must be a particular cause for concern for him.

Normally, yes. But this is a British prince. He has an entourage of lackeys carrying those fine plant sprayers and rechargeable fans (with manual fans in their pockets, just in case) so that poor Andrew can be cooled by mechanical means at any time.

Since the Falklands War (1982), when he suffered this disability, he has never sweated and has had to limit any normally sweaty activities - such as steamy sexual encounters - to strictly air-conditioned premises.

Naturally, he had to give up any vigorous outdoor activities, such as polo, golf, hunting, shooting and ... um, wait ...

Ghislaine Maxwell trial: Socialite’s attorneys tried to push 30-year friendship with Donald Trump into spotlight
Wed, December 29, 2021, 5:29

When Mr Trump’s name did come up, it seemed to be Ms Maxwell’s lawyers who wanted to push some of those names from her “little black book” into the spotlight.

During cross-examination by Christian Everdell, Epstein’s longtime pilot Larry Visoski, told how former presidents Mr Trump and Mr Clinton, disgraced actor Kevin Spacey and Prince Andrew had been regular passengers onboard Epstein’s private jets.

It is a recognized and sometimes serious condition and actually it's a range of conditions. His claim that it was caused by a military experience that lead to a adrenaline is not at all well supported, especially not in humans. It would seem though, that he should be able to produce the documentation if some doctor actually told him that.

Yeahbut, if that "reliable" source of information, David Icke, is correct then Andrew is a shape-shifting lizard and so would not need to sweat. Mebbe he just forgot his cover story?
