Get to know Steve Stockman

Stockman never really had a chance. Cornyn had much more funding and vastly superior organization. And Stockman didn't really try. He gave no interviews and made no public appearances. His "campaigning" was limited to sending out vicious slander through the mail. He was so insane that even the far right Republicans refused to endorse him. And yet he still got 20%. I find that more scary than comforting.

Do you find it more scary than comforting that LaRouche kook Kesha Rogers got a higher percentage in the Democratic primary for the same seat?

Goodbye Steve, we hardly knew ye.

Is the Tea Party losing its mojo?

Dave Weigel:

How the Texas Tea Party became nothing more than an effort to take people’s money

So a lot of these Tea Party groups are keeping the funds they raise for themselves or consultants and not spending it on ads and stuff like that which cost money.

Hell, the whole conservative movement is turning into a money making scam. On top of people raising money with what have to be fake campaigns (Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, Herman Cain), conservative media is full of ads for overpriced gold coins, apocalypse survivalist gear, get-rich-quick scams, and snake oil miracle cures. It's like a lot of scammers and con men out there consider far-right-wing conservatives to be easy marks or something.

Don't forget Newt Gingrich. He had a scam running where he would give out awards to small business owners, targeted in mass mailings, and charging them for the pleasure if they accepted their award.

What's your criteria for determining if a campaign is "fake"? Can we apply your criteria to other candidates to decide if their campaigns are "fake"?

Actually that article made me feel bad that she got so much support from voters, but better that she gets less than none from Democratic Party.

The Texas Democratic Party has disavowed the LaRouche movement, passing a resolution in December stating, "Texas Democratic Party will have no relationship with the campaign of any person indentifying [sic] him or herself as aligned with the LaRouche Movement or Lyndon LaRouche." The party has also disseminated a fact sheet about Rogers to its members and local chairs.

In previous elections a candidate getting the Tea Party endorsement was enough to even get someone crazy elected. This time it seems it wasn't enough.

It's the perfect scam. When they lose their money, it will be Obama's fault!
