Far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders has won an appeal against a Home Office decision barring his entry to the UK.

The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ruling overturns a government decision that led to Mr Wilders being turned back at Heathrow in February.

The Freedom Party leader, who has been accused of Islamophobia, planned a UK visit next week, his solicitor said.

Free speech and common sense finally prevails!

What a pity - can't see any reason to allow such a person into this country - after all we have our home-grown versions.

Correct, It's the BNP + a stupid haircut.

He does seek to improve his profile by openly provoking Muslims with his Winblows Movie Maker production Fitna and various remarks.
Nice bit of guerilla marketing there.

He is currently the biggest party in the polls and I'm starting to to think he has real potential to do damage to the Netherlands.

Maybe you can chain him to a tree at Speaker's Corner.
Keep him happy with the attention and the rest of the population entertained.

Regardless of whether he's an arse, he isn't being violent. Or advocating violence.

Can't really claim to have Freedom of Movement and Freedom of Expression within the EU if it's only for people we agree with. Something about upholding principles isn't it...?

We don't want to get into personal freedoms again do we?

I note that there is a rival to the BNP here now. The EDL were kicking up a storm at the weekend in Manchester.

Nothing to do with whether I agree with his views or not - I actually agree with the Home Office in this matter:

...The decision to refuse Wilders admission was taken on the basis that his presence could have inflamed tensions between our communities and have led to inter-faith violence. We still maintain this view....

It also has nothing at all to do with "freedom of expression", his right to free speech is not being curbed in the slightest, and it is only slightly related to "freedom of movement" as that does not refer to some fundamental right of movement between the different EU countries.

The man is a known trouble maker, and that is good grounds, as far as I am concerned, from stopping him coming.

Are you comparing EDL with the BNP?

In what way is Geert a "trouble maker", hell if your against foreigners make trouble you ought to deport all those Muslims threatening to cut the heads of the infidels and critics of Islam.

You mean all 5 of them? :D

Deport UK citizens? How does that work? I prefer the option to prosecute them better.

In other words, the Home Office believes in granting a "heckler's veto".

In terms of his particular legal rights, you are probably correct. But if you think this issue won't have any effect on freedom of expression, I think you are wrong.

The man is a known trouble maker

And how does he make trouble? All he does is speak. It is other people who are doing the actual making of trouble. Once you start categorizing speaking as making trouble, you are indeed on your way to curtailing free speech.

Ho ho ho.

I do not support Arcade 22, who seems to be outed himself as a bigot; but in the US you can strip a naturlized citizen of his Citizenship under certain circumstances and then deport him. Generally this is done only for serious criminal offenses; Probably the most famous example was Lucky Luciano, The Mafia boss, who was stripped of his citizenship and then deported to Sicily.
Being able to be stripped of your citizenship is one of the two distinctions between a "born" citizen and and a naturalized one,the other one being inablity to hold the offices of President or Vice President.
I presume the UK has similiar laws in place.

I may be behind on current laws of prosecution but I thought if you were awaiting trial you had you passport held? Seems a bit bizarre that he can openly travel and potentially jump bail (or whatever he is on awaiting trial).

Yes, exactly. We have a huge home grown muslim population. I guess he did not research who has been prosecuted in the past or carried out the attacks in this country.

If I need to specify that by UK citizen I mean UK born, then I do now;)
