That's nothing!

You should see how many people in the western part of Germany have a craving for the old days ....

Hello Lord Emsworth,

Do you have any figure on how much the Western part of Germany has given to the former GDR?

I was in Germany shortly after the wall fell, and there was a huge difference in the standard of living between West and East Berlin at that time. I am sure it is different now though.

Which old days are you referring to? Those before 1989 or those before 1945? Or even those before 1933?

What's your point exactly?

I meant that there are a lot of people in the west who have a cracing for the days before the reunification. It was rather a joke ...

Given what? Money?

I don't know, but if that's your question I might look out for something.

I don't know exacly for Berlin, but for the whole of Germany there are still differences. For example a lot of the minimum wages in the East are slightly lower than in the West. Unemployment rates are, by and large higher.

But the gap is closing.
