I got curious whether this was true but could find no references suggesting this was a true story.

Of course, it says a lot about the Trump administration when someone can (potentially) make up what sounds like a completely ridiculous story and people still think "is this true?"

I agree, and I think he should resign, but I am just reluctant to overule the voters except in out and out criminal or other extreme cases. So far, I don't see that here.
That might change if more evidence about his misuse of campaing funds comes out.
And forgive if I think this was a democract alot of people here would be a lot more forgiving.

I'm sorry, but if you put money into a prediction market on whether George Santos is going to do something like show up at an event you deserve to be defrauded by George Santos. There should be something like opposite restitution where whoever lost money on that has to pay George Santos again.

It's annoying enough that Kalishi can ignore gambling regulation by claiming to be a prediction market but using the justice department as their gaming integrity division is straight asinine. I'm on team George on this one, assuming it is his real name anyway. The lesson in financial literacy here is almost certainly his greatest constribution to society.

"This story is going to get you a gun in your face," Santos said.
I asked him what he meant by that.
"You know what I mean."
