George Carlin is dead :(

Add to the list of evidence against God's existence:
Carlin, Hicks (at 42!) and Pryor (stopped performing at 52) are all dead.
Mencia, Cook and Romano are still alive.

George Carlin was the first person who told me in public that my religion was BS. I am deeply grateful.

NSFW:

I was walking past the chapel in the hospital where I work when I saw a sign bearing these words.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take. but by the moments that take our breath away

George Carlin
1937 - June 24, 2008

My irony meter pegged, I walked off giggling softly to myself.

I don't doubt it. tee hee hee.

Course we can't give the church any credit for quoting an atheist (saying something which is neither theist nor atheist). An atheist giving a church any credit in any way shape or form? GASP perish the thought!

Not sure what you mean, Tricky. But PBS has been airing Carlin's (posthumously) Mark Twain award presentation through the weekend, and I caught some of his routines. I had forgotten how good he was, especially the above routine on the Ten Commandments.

I miss the guy. He should still be here.

Sorry, I was obtuse there. I didn't want to start a whole new thread, but this made me smile, so I looked up an old one.

I saw that PBS special, too. I loved it when one of the presenters pointing out the absurdity of the fact that Carlin's routines were not just being bleeped for the broadcast audience, but that the consenting adults who had come to the Kennedy Center to honor Carlin had to have their delicate sensibilities protected, too.

I believe that was Louis Black, another great commedian.

Perhaps Black was talking about this same clip, but I found the bleeps themselves especially funny: *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep*sucker, mother*bleep*, and *bleep*.
