Farage has announced that he won't be standing for Reform UK, and that helping trump getting elected is more important to him.

Elections, concessions, resignations etc are always announced from that silly podium, so apparently not.

Why they didn't erect a weather covering, or at least give the guy an umbrella, I have no idea.

Because they couldn't organise a proverbial in a brewery.

Danny Kruger Tory MP for Devizes says

"We've been in power for a long time.. We represent the change, Labour represent more of the same. They would carry on the failed British state which has caused so many problems"

Blaming Labour for the last 14 years of government.

Typical - lets everyone else do the work and if they are successful to any degree he'll just come waltzing* back in.

*Note not one of those terrible EU waltzes, a good old fashioned British Waltz!

Are you sure that wasn't Sir Michael Take?

Went to see his Wikipedia entry:

In November 2023 Kruger participated in the inaugural conference of the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship. In an interview there he said: "We can tolerate eccentric ideologues. What we can't tolerate is large numbers of people who hate the country that they live in."[52]

You mean like the Tory party membership and the Daily Mail readers?

Unsurprisingly, the GB News political editor is quoting anonymous tories ind anger of losing their seats, that they're seeing a rise in number of letters of no confidence being submitted. Apparently they're hoping to unseat Rish! before parliament is dissolved next week, thus calling off the election.
That wouldn't work

Farage says that although the election is important the US presidential election is of "global importance" so that's where he's concentrating his energy and effort.

Plus he knows his own party won't win a single seat.

He must know the US election isn't until November.

They just want a different leader at election time.

Gotta get the grift in early.

Ladbrokes are offering odds on Tory losses. Relative to their 365 seats won in 2019 :

201+ 4/9
151-200 3/1
101-150 7/1
etc

i.e. a total thrashing is odd-on with the bookies.

As Mitch Benn says, "Tory MPs are upset because someone whose wealth and status insulates them from the consequences of their actions took a decision which damages their well-being and livelihoods without consulting or even considering them?"

They thought they had another six months to plan their escape, How many will decide not to stand?

If figure the mopping up period before Parliament dissolves leaves room for a couple more Tory PMs. Based on the current trend I'm thinking Jonathan Gullis followed by bottoming out with an actual chimpanzee. Oh, wait, I got those the wrong way round.

Deadline for applying for a Voter Authority Certificate (Voter ID) is Wednesday 26 June @ 5pm.

That wouldn't work

It would be hilarious. They theoretically *could* remove Sunak as leader of the Tory party, but that wouldn't stop him being PM. They would have to get a no confidence vote and someone who could form a government and then ask the King to rescind the requested dissolution.

All before Parliament is dissolved.
