General UK Politics VI It's A (Honey) Trap!

Tories tried to make it a referendum on ULEZ and Khan's vote share increased, maybe they'll shut up about it now?

Dan Wooten and Laurence Fox have announced they are leaving London because of the election result.

I think in Lozza's case it's because he has to downsize after being taken to the cleaners by the courts.

Apparently he only won because London is a majority Islamic city now and the White British are a persecuted minority.

According to Calvin Robertson (man of the cloth)

"London no longer represents England.
We should move the capital elsewhere.
London is a reminiscent of a third world country, these days, full of foreign drama.
Import the third world, become the world.
The Caliphate of Londonistan is no longer civilised, for the most part.
All this talk of civil war is rubbish. We gave our guns up the very same year Labour opened the floodgates. We have been disarmed.
We have no legitimate way to reclaim the cities.
The options are to leave the cities and protect the country.
Or to leave the country entirely."

Labour win West Midlands by a tiny margin of about 1,500 votes, not helped by an Independent, single issue candidate, standing specifically to get the Muslim vote re Gaza and taking over 40,000 votes. Luckily Reform took Tory votes as well else Labour's meekness on Gaza may well have cost them this.

I would also comment however on how gracious both Labour and Tory candidates were to each other in their speeches. Nice to see some politicians can show some decorum.

Labour won the West Midlands mayoral contest, which I suspect would have been a lot simpler without the independent candidate, who seems to have been the repository of votes by those who felt Labour pointlessly calling for a ceasefire in Gaza was clearly the most important issue facing the electorate

Apparently the emerging story is that Khan was behind until the postal votes were counted, just as Trump was winning until the postal votes were counted.

Well probably nonsense but probably going to be the springboard for further efforts at voter suppression.

But of what religion. He keeps getting kicked out of them.

To be fair to him, Street is a decent bloke and wasn't a terrible mayor for a Tory.

Didn't the CoE reuse to ordain him?

Our ward, in John Redwood's true blue seat, went from 2 Lab 1 Con to 3 Lab; LibDems were third. We're not typical of the whole area, though, the council is mostly LibDem now (exactly 50%, with Con second (used to be in control) and Lab third).

From his ranting today Lozza appears to be moving to Midsomer. I'll give it two months before he's barred from the pub and the blacksmith murders him.

In response to a Loser Fox tweet about a number of Muslim mayors in the UK

From @nicolathorp_ on Twitter

The Mayor of Birmingham does not exist.
The Lord Mayor of Birmingham is Chaman Lal - his Sikh family were British/Indian army officers during the Second World War, his uncle sadly lost his life in the Burma campaign.

The Mayor of Leeds does not exist.
The Lord Mayor of Leeds is currently a lady called Al Garthwaite.

The Mayor of Sheffield does not exist.
The Lord Mayor of Sheffield is currently Colin Ross.

The Mayor of Rochdale is Mike Holly.

The Mayor of London is Sadiq Khan who is indeed Muslim and was voted for democratically by over 1 million Londoners.

Laurence Fox lost his £5,000 deposit after securing just 0.005% of votes in his attempt to become a London Assembly member.

Mr Fox had already been barred from taking part in the London mayoral elections after submitting invalid nomination papers.
