Just a note:

While these soldiers are not actively fighting, they can not be considered non-combatants. Hors de combat only extends to soldiers who are disabled, about to surrender, incapable of fighting or who do not wish to continue to do so, etc.

I've never heard of active soldiers referred to as "non-combatants' unless they're a medic or something.

That would be relevant if they were throwing rocks at soldiers. But they ain't stupid. It's usually unarmed civilians.

But I can see your point.

Well I can't say for certain what the ratio is. Palestinians have obviously thrown rocks at both soldiers and civilians. In the latter, I would think that is a form terrorism, of the former I don't think so. If it was Israeli civilians attacking Israeli soldiers with rocks, what would that be?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110329/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_facebook

"It urged Palestinians to take to the streets after Friday prayers on May 15 and begin an uprising. It read: "Judgment Day will be brought upon us only once the Muslims have killed all of the Jews."
Should this call to kill all Jews remain on Facebook?
But but but that's only after the trees and rocks start talking and revealing that there's a Jew hidinf behind it! You're not afraid of talking trees and rocks are you?

...excuse me, but the use of such hateful and anti-Semitic language is not appreciated...

It isn't?

Don't certain folks on this forum minimize or excuse Hamas' holocaust denial, for example, or declare that it (or Iran's) declarations about how they will kill the Jews aren't serious?

Isn't that "appreciating" -- defending and excusing -- the use of antisemitic language, and of exceedingly crude and violent antisemitic language, at that?

Sadly those aren't isolated examples of "appreciating" antisemitic language on this forum.

Experience shows the next stage is to troll "Ha'aretz"'s web site for something else to blame Israel for, pretending enormous moral outrage at something you didn't even know existed five minutes ago.

I was correct, of course. Do I get the million dollars?

P.S.

How can one first claim Israel isn't, and never was, democratic, and then claim that it is now abandoning democracy? Doesn't "abandoning" imply having been democratic until now? But of course I'm expecting common sense here, obviously a mistake...

After zillions of posts claiming Israel is not, and never was, really democratic, now all of a sudden he is claiming Israel is abandoning democracy? Doesn't "abandoning" democracy imply that until now it was a democracy?

I guess that common sense doesn't count when bashing Israel.
Hey, <snip> has the right to change <snip> mind, doesn't <snip>?

Edited (<snip>'s), breach of rule 12.

Palestinians and Arabs are infantalized. If they deny the Holocaust then it's like a five year old kid denying the Holocaust. We look around for the adult to blame.

If they vote for Hamas in a landslide victory then that's not proof that they support Hamas or anything. It's like five year old kids voting for Hamas. The little dears just didn't know what they were doing.

If I were an Arab, I would be deeply insulted by the attitude shown here. It seems colonialism at its worst: "Oh, you don't really mean that, my little pumpklin. Here, let the big white father tell you what you actually wanted to say."

well, you see, its only terrorism if an Arab throws a rock at an Israeli soldier. If a Jew throws a rock at an Israeli soldier, its an act of self-defense.

;)

thank you very much for your logic and clear insight.

a soldier in uniform, especially if he is on-duty and patrolling a dangerous area, is NOT a non-combatant.

as far as I am concerned, any military personnel serving in a hostile area, is a combatant.

such an assertion that they are not, is beyond absurd. its pure idiocy.

I agree.

Just another Parky thread about how Israel isn't a liberal democracy, therefore it's not so bad if it gets destroyed.

He lost badly in the main Pal/Israel thread, flying into a rage about "Zionist lies and bigots" so he has to trawl the net for articles and start new threads about non-issues.
