Gay men arrested for having gay sex aboard gay cruise ship.

I stumbled across this little gem just now...

2 US men arrested on gay cruise in Caribbean
Local police boarded ship on suspicion of indecent exposure

This brings up a few questions.

Firstly, why would a cruise organized by a company specializing in "gay travel" even visit a location (Dominica) where sex between two men is illegal?

Secondly, with 2000 passengers, how could the witness (who was on the dock) be able to positively identify the two men seen having sex aboard the ship?

But the first question is partially answered in the article by the president of the company:
He later said in an email that the company has organized many trips to Dominica and would "happily return."

"Many countries and municipalities that gay men visit and live in have antiquated laws on their books," he said. "These statutes don't pose a concern to us in planning a tourist visit."​
Since the charges were for indecent exposure and buggery, I suppose it's possible that indecent exposure is the main reason for the arrest, not the buggery. (After all, the local authorities must have some idea of what people get up to on a gay cruise.)
 
I'm thinking the witness probably let the police know immediately and pointed out the particular cabin on whose balcony the carnality was taking place, and the occupants were able to be arrested because they were still in the cabin when the police got there.
 
Later in the article it mentions they were only charged with indecent exposure - which under the circumstances might have been a fair cop
 
They've already plead guilty, paid a fine, and the police drove them to the airport.

Doing it in full view of people on shore was the issue. The cruise organizer says they'll still schedule gay cruises to Dominica.
 
Constables? Buggery? Arrests in a former Crown colony?

That can't be right, I've been assured that only the USA still arrests gay people for that sort of thing.

So this whole artificial gay hatred scandal has nothing to do with homosexuality, or with medieval legislation of Dominica either. The police (of nearly any country in the world) would have done the same also in case it had been a hetero couple.

That might actually make sense. But now I've got the image in my mind of someone standing on the dock, hands cupped to block out the light as they peer through a portal into a cabin, and being shocked at what they see. :covereyes

The article only says it was witnessed by "someone on the dock". They may have been standing on the pier rather than standing on shore.

Who couldn't get another cruise, because they were all sold out.

Most of which were either independent of Britain before homosexuality ceased to be a crime in Britain, or else have been independent for a lot longer that the time between homosexuality becoming legal in Britain, and them becoming independent. The fact that this happened in a COmmonwealth country is a red herring of massive proportions.

Believe it or not some gay folk in the UK don't think about this when arranging holidays! I think that's a combination of two things, one is the usual tourist arrogance/ignorance in that folk tend to assume that their laws follow them to a foreign country, and the second is (especially for the younger homosexuals) that when you never have to think about whether you can legally bonk whoever you want it simply doesn't occur to them that they may end up in trouble in the foreign country.
 
Where does it say where they were? All I can see is this:

"On the ship" is pretty vague. It seems to make a difference whether they were out on the deck of the ship, or on their room's balcony, or inside a room and someone on the dock had to peek in through the window to see. I wouldn't think that the latter circumstance would give rise to an indecent exposure charge.

Going at it out on the balcony while in ports is asking to get nailed.

Nationality of the port is not really relevant.
 
So the OP is inaccurate.

It should read:

Couple arrested for indecent exposure aboard gay cruise ship?
