Gary Johnson can't think of any foreign leader

More like complete halt of technological progress. Well, I will grant you that cavemans didn't polluted much.

Have fun shouting meaningless political slogans from your cave.

I also smell hypocrisy here, since I am quite sure you used fruits of modern civilisation like cars or products made in pollluting factories many, many times. Without asking 300mln+ americans if that's fine, of course.
You can't call it really call it hypocrisy he had no control of which country he was born into and it would be impossible to live in the USA and not have to take the good and the bad of the non libertarian governance that is currently in place.

You didn't want to risk sounding like a crackpot, and now you're comparing trump to Hitler. Mission accomplished.

Well, the damage to human lives that Hitler accomplished is absolutely on the table in a Trump presidency.

However, by all accounts it seems Hitler was intelligent. So that's where the comparison fails. Trump is a goddamn moron.

See, that's the thing.
Hillary doesn't suck so bad. There is nothing about her that says she's any worse than anyone else who has taken that office.

All evidence points toward her being better - if anything.
Since the thread is already godwinned, let me put in my two cents.

This is called the Big Lie, a propaganda technique devised by Hitler and Goebbels. The Republicans have been shouting that the Clintons are evil for the last 25 years, and have been initiating all kinds of investigations after every little detail of their lives.

And all they found was a stain on a dress.

But the continuous shouting they're evil and bad results in that even people who would be sympathetic to their policies have come to believe it.

On the other hand, there are substantive criticisms of her positions and policies that all get lumped in as being fabricated attacks. This allows anyone uttering such criticism to be dismissed as a blind partisan (or of having been duped by such).

I've noted over the last decade or so especially that positioning oneself as the aggrieved party seems to confer all kinds of benefits, concessions, and immunities.

What he said. My criticisms of Hillary! are not any "big lie," nor am I a Republican robot when I lament the choice of Democratic Presidential nominee. If the 2 major parties wanted my vote, they would have chosen more wisely.

Do you have the same speech to Republicans wanting o vote third party?
No, same speech. Do you really want Donald Trump running the show? I think reasonable people would say no.

You didn't want to risk sounding like a crackpot, and now you're comparing trump to Hitler. Mission accomplished.

Is his candidacy based on racism? Does he appeal to the baser instincts of voters? Is he incompetent to be president? Is he a truly ugly person? Is he an ass? Does he have a clue what the constitutional limits a president has? Has he even read the constitution?

Well, to be fair, the question is moot. So maybe there's no foreign leader that he respects. How is that relevant to how one runs the country? Don't get me wrong, I still don't think he would be a competent president. But we sure do waste time asking pointless questions. A more useful question would be to ask him how does he plan to tackle the huge economic inequality problem in the US? Or how would he deal with the Taxes? Or education? Or the environment? (Regardless of whether some or all of these questions have been answered. The point is, those are the questions that are decisive when determining whether someone is competent to run a country. Not what leaders he respects)

BObThe Coward is a good example of why the Libertarians, despite making a certain amount of noise from time to time, never really get anywhere.
Problem is everything they propose is based on unproven theory based in ideology, with catastrophic consequences if it fails.

I think there was substantive debate over policies during the Democratic primaries. Then there was a reasonably serious discussion on policy issues. Right now, that's not the case, and right now, all criticism leveled at her is about "Crooked Hillary". No she's not.

I've noted over the last decade or so especially that positioning oneself as the aggrieved party seems to confer all kinds of benefits, concessions, and immunities.

You're a lost cause. I hope others are not. I hope the USA electorate doesn't believe Trump will win. He is a truly bad person.

Not just bad, that was Bush and Nixon and Reagan. Trump is dangerous **** on a roll.

I wouldn't characterize me, a very highly educated, well informed third-party voter in a deep blue state as a lost cause, but you are free to disagree. Godwinning this thread on the other hand is ridiculous. Saying that Trump is like Hitler and that he's going to end democracy as we know it is no less ridiculous than what conspiracy theorists were saying about George W. Bush eight years ago or about Clinton eight years before that. Trump isn't going to win, but if he did our republic would be just fine with one branch of government having an idiot at its head. It won't even be the first time in recent history.

Why are Libertarians even bothering with a presidential ticket? Why not pick a few vulnerable House seats with Tea Party incumbents and build a reputation of being able to be trusted with governance? Then run a real primary and have a viable candidate.

There are plenty of libertarians and libertarian-leaning members of Congress and in elected office. Nevertheless, your question is a bit like asking, if you like the Black Lives Matters movement, why don't you start local and maybe 50 years from now the police can stop murdering black people.

Sounds about right.
