Future of the GOP?

Maybe, but when they disagree with them, do they later come back hat in hand and appoligize the way republicans do with Rush? Look at how Rush made Steele his bitch.

If Olbermann had Rush's ratings and, thus, his influence with voters, you'd see Dems going to Olbermann on their knees each time he called them out. If Rush were a Democrat, you'd see Dems genuflecting before him.

Maybe, but that means that he is the voice and brians of the republican party.

Wow, can you tell me where to get that looking glass that you have that allows you to see into alternative universes with such clarity.

2 points:

Olbermann doesn't have Rush's ratings - perhaps because Dems are just not so good at staying in lock-step, turning off their brains and obeying.

If Rush were a Democrat, he wouldn't have his own ratings.

Rush occupies the lunchtime slot in most radio markets. He usually runs with little competition from national branded shows.

Olbermann is in the crowded field of primetime cable, where there is lots of viable competition.

Comparing their audiences really isn't fair.

Given MSNBC, in general, and Olbermann, in particular, are Obama lapdogs combined with Obama's national popularity (Oops, fading popularity, but, still), Olbermann and MSNBC should be dominating the ratings. The complete opposite is true.

Until Eskimo Nell exits stage left, the GOP are going to suffer from the curious image problem she brings with her.

Huh? I expect that's a joke, but Sarah Palin IMO was not ready for prime time.

Consider her a plum, plucked too early in the season for full flavor, and used in an Iron Chef cook off where only the best ingredients will do. *

By showing badly in her first match, she brings a bit of "loser" cachet to the table as she tries to use this momentum for further uncertain, to me, aims. This presidential politics game is rather tough on the competitors, even when they win.

What does that tell you? Where are the Olbermann equivalent of "Ditto-heads"? No, the left doesn't have a charismatic spokesman that it is political suicide to contradict. Why do you think that is? What is it about lemmings that makes them so praiseworthy? Fidelity to the herd?

The real problem is that without a leader, Rush is all the GOP has. Popular (FSM knows why), heard everywhere (given free to rural stations), always on message (impressive... for a pillhead), and when a republican says that he is wrong, you can start a timer and wait for them to go find some media outlet and say that he was right all along. Its become quite laughable. It isn't a WH meme, but an observable trend.

It doesn't speak well for the future of the party, and when combined with their focus on a southern strategy to the exclusion of the growing Latino population, I would say it warms the cockles of my heart, if I knew what they were.

Seriously: Why doesn't Rush run for president himself and destroy the GOP once and for all?

Seriously? What a corruption of the English language.

Seriously, warum kandidiert Rush Limbaugh nicht selbst für die Presidentschaftswahl im Jahre 2012 - und reißt die ganze Partei gleich mit in den Abgrund?

And if my grandmother had balls, she'd be my grandfather.

But in the real world Democrats don't behave like Republicans, and the Rush problem is all yours.

Right now he has a job where he has to work for an hour a day. Why do you think he doesn't run?

Because despite all the crap he airs he isn't stupid enough to ignore the fact that he would rip the GOP apart as soon as he would run, given the mixed* responses he got from "his" party.
