Ostensibly as part of it's attempt to reduce road deaths (hint: less booze and speeding, better roads and honest cops) Putin's Russia has banned those suffering from "medical deviations" from obtaining driving licenses. Such "deviations" include transgender people, asexuals, transvestites as well as those who engage in voyeurism, fetishism and exhibitionism. And "pathological" gamblers.
Interestingly those with drug or alcohol problems don't seem to make the list.

Yet more homphobic and transphobic bogotry in Russia, though I'm sure the usual suspects will be along to defend this crap soon enough.

Meanwhile, Ivan Ivanovich gets to drive like a madman because he got a drivers license through bribery and the traffic police are more than willing to look the other way as long as they get some spare change.
 
Asexuality makes you a bad driver? How does that work?

I mean, it's all insane of course, but that one really seems strange and out of left field. :boggled:

Not only that, how do you test for asexuality? Do people have to 'perform' before they receive their license?

I can understand banning bisexuals, since they might tend to go both ways.
 
Russia, fighting tooth and nail to go back to the era before Peter the Great tried to Europeanize the place. It never really took, and they've been trying to undo it all since. Perhaps they really would be happier as serfs and boyars, covered in beards and eaten by wolves every winter. Let's build a giant wall and Putin can be Mance Rayder.

There's a 'test' for the license, in that you have to 'perform' for your license. Asexuals and homosexuals wouldn't perform. I suppose bisexuals would.

Don't have a 'partner' to 'perform' with? One will be supplied for you...

About the only one I can really get behind is banning pathological gamblers from driving (until they get treatment). That aside, how on earth is anything on that list a medical deviation?

As apparently nobody is thinking here I can't be bothered to give you more than the very short version of the debunking of this latest propaganda crap. The long version is here in German.

There's nothing about transsexuality in the regulation. There is a reference to Part F of the "International Classification of Diseases" of the World Health Organization. You find transsexuality listed there as F64.0, a "Gender identity disorder" according to the WHO.

If a person was diagnosed with any disorders listed there, AND this leads to chronical psychological problems accompanied by heavy chronic or frequent pain attacks, THEN they might not get a driving license.

The AND part will obviously never happen caused by transsexuality.

The only thing that's more amazing than the blatancy of the propaganda ist that they more often than not get away with it because of the total lack of brain-activity of their audience. (edit: or better said the enormous amount of conditioning that doesn't allow the brain-activity to spot the obviously absurd nature of the charges)
