I do care enough to teach a lessons on "getting a serving of their own dog food".

Phelp's excommunication is kind of a big deal, since being removed from the church is pretty much a forfeit of one's salvation and God's grace.

I wonder if members of the Westboro church see the irony their founder dedicating his life to preaching and condemning everyone to Hell, presumably trying to prevent people from damning their souls, only to be destined to burn it it himself.

Raw numbers. The number of "afterlife" counting past religion is big, and counting the various sect, even bigger. Any particular theory will therefor have a very low probability , trending toward zero as more afterlife theory are counted.

And that's not even counting individuals personal difference on afterlife views.

So yes, as much "chance" as any other religious person, *if* there was an afterlife, and that chance is near zero.

That's kind of what I was thinking, like senility or something has led him to spouting blatent racism, but I would think hiding him from public would be far more effective. Of course these are obviously not people who make rational decisions.

Well, I've just seen Louis Theroux's documentary on them (again), where he returns to visit them after a few years. I still feel it is a shame that he doesn't know enough Bible to confront them with a few passages, but that's besides the point.
Seeing how they spoke about ex-members of their church (sometimes even there own children), I don't think they would mind any demonstration at FP's funeral. I think some of them would probably join them, and say "Yes, God does hate Fred Phelps". They excommunicated him for a good reason (in their warped logic).
Plus, I would think they wouldn't mind the attention.

Which is exactly why his funeral should be picketed, and why he should be disrespected, yea unto pissing on his grave and dancing on and around it (to grungy techno and all!)

There will be no funeral.

I say this because I just remembered some of the logic they used to justify protesting funerals. They consider funerals to be "worshiping the dead." As vile as they are, they are at least consistent. Thinking back on what I remember about these monsters, I would be shocked if they held a funeral.
