Freaky Dandilions

A nonfatal dose of broad leaf weedkiller can cause the curling that I think I see in the leaves. I think that I've sometimes seen fasciation associated with weedkill too.

Wow, cool. Now I'm going to be looking for mutant plants everywhere...fascinated by fasciation?

A fatal dose will do it, too.

After you soak a dandelion in Roundup, it goes ape-poop for a couple of days; growing in all kinds of weird ways until it curls up and dies. When they're doing this, they look like mutants for sure.

JREF'ers, would you eat a whacked Dandie if you found it in a non-sprayed area? Say put the munch on something with a hudge fat stem and two to four fruits or flowers going haywire?

Berke Breathed is the guy who wrote Bloom County. The characters would regularly meet in, frolic upon and stomp down their local Dandelion field for fun.

I guess you had to be there...

It is one year and one month after the quake and tsunami that shook Japan to its core then caused the biggest Nuclear mess unknown since Chernobyl.

This appears to be the spring of the mutants, or at least mutant dandelions. They are popping up in Tokyo. :jaw-dropp The buggers are popping up in the USA and Canada too. They aren't the only plant gone bonkers but they are certainly the most prolific.

Gardeners, is this a new phenominon as the more fearful on the web believe or is this just weeds being weedy adaptable plants that get around?

Those are a natural thing. I see them on my lawn occasionally. Some years rather a lot of them.

Has anyone seen or heard of a freaky dandilion in the state of Arizona?

Give this to someone for a certified freakout! Especially in the relatively early stages, this rose could cause a panic.

Don't snort mutant dandelions.
