Getting that 3D look in Ultra Fractal isn't always easy. Apparently it only works with basic Mandelbrot and Julia sets (unless I'm missing something.) I'm still in the learning stages with this app.

If you download UF, be sure to go through the tutorials and sample files. The prog is a little complicated up front, but once you learn what everything is for it gets a lot easier.
