I have a "Turn off Fox News" bumper sticker on my car.

My friend, Scott, asked my "Why?" Scott is more conservative than I am. He claims I'm a liberal b/c I think of things before rendering judgement.

He doesn't follow in lock-step the war cries of Hannity and Rush, but, he doesn't think they are full of it either.

Cutting to the chase....

I point out all the editing that Fox does that is below par. The Sara Palin rally? I think it was Sara's rally, where the weather went from cloudy and with mostly barren trees to sunny with trees full of foilage.

I point out the terrorist fist bump...
I point out the photoshopping of the NY Times reporters.

Then he says "CNN spins things."

I reply, "I don't believe what CNN tells me. If I find something interesting on CNN, MSNBC, or FOX, or wherever, I'll Google it to death and read up on my own." "Spin is also different from what Fox does. Tell me how photoshopping pictures or misleading people by editing in different footage is spin."

So, in the interest of being an equal opportunity offender...can anyone point out any nefarious editing by CNN or photoshopping pictures of GW Bush or Hannity...???

If he thinks constructing narrative and manipulating stories, footage, and pictures to fit to that narrative isn't spin, then what's the point?

I'm not necessarily trying to change his mind, I'm curious if CNN plays these little editing games as well.

I've googled CNN and lies and didn't find jack (like one could if they googled Fox & lies)

I don't watch television but the few times I catch the news I can usually tell pretty quickly which side spins which way.

All media spins the news. To say otherwise is naieve.

And some just blatantly lie about it or hire people known to lie, or give air time to ergregious liars.

I have never seen any "news" organization give as much airtime to that professional liar Breitbart and his pet pimp as does Faux News.

Already covered by the OP.

Bad editing is right!
(Since according to the talking head, it is a taped show and they'll just edit that out later.)

Still, my point and question still stands.
Show me CNN accidently editing in footage from rallies at different times, different places to make the crowd look bigger at a Joe Biden stump speech.
Show me MSNBC claiming that "The Republican Straw Poll just took place and Ron Paul might not like the results" and then showing the voting from the previous year where Ron Paul's win was booed, while there was barely any booing from the 2011 vote.

Ironically, "Turn on Fox News" might be more productive.

I've never been a fan of memetic developments trying to attach a "tsk, tsk!" tag to behaviors. It obviates intelligence and rational decision-making, and is the core of why things like religion persist.

Let's face it, it's an attempt at argument from moral authority -- "Oh noes! So-and-so disapproves if you do this!", which exposes the sad, emotional underside to many human decisions, as well as the entrenchment into positions due to emotional investment.

No but their recent coverage of Japan has been about as bad as it gets

It's like CNN saw how how paranoid fearmongering was paying off bigtime for Fox with Glenn Beck, and decided "if you can't bet them, join them".
No fan of Fox at all, but at times the Left overreacts to them.

This is a good point. Challenging people to fact-check Fox News Channel after they've watched it might be a better tactic. Not sure how best to fit that on a bumper sticker, though.

My God. I actually read one of her books a few years ago, and I didn't think that she was nuts; some of her comments on media coverage of left / right issues hit home for me. Until I watched that. Unless she's pulling an Andy Kaufman, she's just bat-guano crazy.
Actually, she's more like 'clever like a fox' than bat-guano. Coulter gets rich by saying outrageous things and I'm pretty sure she's well aware of that.
