Forward Party

I think many disaffected (would-be) Democrats look at the party leadership and see a weak group bombarded by Radical Right propaganda and beholden to corporate interests and for once just want a strong and assertive leader who tells the corporations to screw off and isn't afraid to throw fire back at his political enemies opponents.

I like Yang, but man this was a horrible interview...Acosta interrupted a bit too much I think, but the answers were just terrible...

Can the rest of the Forward Party please keep Andrew Yang off television?

He got savaged by Jim Acosta on Sunday afternoon.
It was funny for a bit but after a while, I just wanted it to end.

I didn't even make it past the first half minute of the opening statements. (Video)

"But people worry about another 2016 scenario where a third party candidate,
like Jill Stein or Gary Johnson, cost Hillary Clinton the election. Don't you think
that putting yourself out there, putting this party out there as an alternative
that appeals to some moderate Republicans could potentially throw the race
to Donald Trump? Put Donald Trump back into the White House. Is that what
you want?"

Usually third party candidates don't amount to anything, approximately less
than one percent of the vote in any given election. In the 2016 Jill Stein, the
Green Party candidate, got 1% of the vote, not enough to change things.

On the other hand Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate, definitely
got more than 3% of the vote and could've swung things in Hillary Clintons
favor. But real people in real world circumstances don't work the way you
think in fictional scenarios. For example, Libertarians I know root for Putin
in the Ukraine war.

I think Biden has an 80% of winning over Trump in 2024. However, in 2028
those odds flip.

Moderate Republicans???

I'm saying at the very least I want to see Democrats blast the airwaves with these talking points with the same fanatical enthusiasm that Republicans have when they kiss Trump's ass to stay electable.

Democrats just don't have a liberal media group like Republicans have a conservative media group. Sure, there's MSNBC on the left, but that's basically it. Republicans have all the various talk radio stations, FOX News, OANN, NewsMaxx, etc. And Republicans have been very, very good at a unified front with this media bubble. That's why every conservative you talk to uses virtually identical talking points: all of their media hammers those talking points over and over and over. Sadly, most conservatives I've talked to actually think they came to those ideas all on their own (I think for myself, unlike you sheeple!) even if they can't actually articulate the points or the reasoning behind the points.

I hope to hell that neither guy is running in 2028. One, both of them will be old as dirt, b) if it's Biden vs Trump in 2024 one of them will be ineligible in 2028, and 3) hopefully justice finally, finally catches up with Trump and he's rotting away in jail somewhere.

That is my whole problem with the Forward party; it is coming off like an ego trip for Yang and a couple others.
It's a shame, because I think there is an awful lot of support for the basic idea behind the party, though the hard core ideologues here, of course, would reject that.

Trump would just be too old in 2028.

They have no basic ideas. Their whole central concept seems to be temperature taking. I can guarantee you that the three policies they have on their website (non of which would be addressed at the presidential level) would get thrown away in an instant if they became unpopular, regardless of whether or not they are good ideas.

They'd be better off trying to work with a group like the League of Women Voters or something and pushing for election reform.

But, this is just another grift. Maybe they can join with the Lincoln Project and sap some more cash from dimwitted liberals.

If the basic idea had any popular support, then support would be the popular reaction to it. It isn't, which shows that it doesn't. It's just another quest for the mythical Lost Tribe Of The Middle. And we already have a major party that's always questing to find that tribe.

So Progressive are popular but not in charge is proof that they are popular, while "Moderate/Centrist" being in charge is proof that they are not popular.

Ah, the "mythical" lost tribe of the middle, it's just that they're not mythical, and they're not lost. But other than that...

Touch grass.

Okay look at it this way.

Hillary didn't lose progressive areas. She lost the blue-collar working man's, mostly white belt Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

How does THAT fit into the "The Dems need to be more progressive" narrative?

How does the fact that every time some Progressive can't just stop themselves from going "Ya know.. maybe Castro wasn't so bad" they loose every other voter who's name ends with a "Z" south of Daytona like happened to Biden in 2020?

Hell even more basic explain Trump in a world where the problem the Democrats aren't Progressive enough?

Because those folks actually favor a lot of progressive policies. The problem is, that you have to avoid putting a specific candidate to them and avoid certain phrases. A big problem is Democrats don't sell these policies. They just take their big money donors' word for it that these policies won't be popular.

He lost to a guy who has nice things to say about everyone from Hitler to Kim Jong Il. In a state where a $15 minimum wage won on the same ballot by 20 points.

Hell even more basic explain Trump in a world where the problem the Democrats aren't Progressive enough?

faux populism? Crappy messaging? Democrats coming off as disingenuous when talking about working people at their $10,000 a plate Beverly Hills fundraisers? Democrats from the 90s who are somehow still in power refusing the acknowledge their mistakes? Corporate media treating everything like a sporting event with 2 evenly matched teams irrespective of the fact that one side is completely delusional?

Maybe "we're not tepid enough" isn't the answer.

I mean, I could, but folks may mistake me for a moderate Democrat.

Those are progressive areas and progressive demographics. Who do you think shows up to union events these days? Who's fighting for higher minimum wage and universal health care?

Contrariwise, who's been ignoring those states for decades while taking their support for granted and outright said exactly that in her post-defeat autopsy memoir?

In my union days in Pennsylvania (granted it was a decade ago), not one person in my shop was progressive. I still have family there and go back to visit all the time, and you'll find more Confederate flags than black lives matter signs by a wide margin.
