Food Babe Critics Speak Out

I do not think Food Babe is ignorant or stupid at all. I think her over the top act is exactly that -- and act, -- and she is doing it in order to sell stuff to people who ARE ignorant and stupid. She is marketing to the insane.

What convinced me is when I found out that she declined all invitations by NPR (hardly shills for food industry), but appeared repeatedly on Alex Jones show.

She is a con artist -- and a very successful one.

Could well be. Do you think Jones also knows that the stuff he promotes is nonsense? In the end I suppose it doesn't really matter. We can see that people can make a good living by spouting nonsense. Whether they believe their own nonsense or not seems like an academic question. I did see that she had complained about critical coverage of herself by NPR, and that may be the reason.

Related to Food Babe;

She says that Florida scientist Kevin Folta, a detractor of hers, was caught lying about ties to Monsanto:

....This week an unprecedented major investigative report was published in the NY Times about how the chemical and food industries work with public university scientists to advance their agendas to the public. Hundreds of emails have now been revealed between University of Florida Professor Dr. Kevin Folta, Monsanto, the biotech front groups, and their PR firm Ketchum after a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request was submitted by the nonprofit group U.S. Right To Know.

Some powerful entities in the chemical and food industries have a financial incentive to try to discredit us in the work we have all done together and now we know how they are using public scientists like Dr. Kevin Folta as sock puppets to advance their message. We’ve come a long way in our food movement and things are finally starting to change – people are getting healthier and the food industry is responding to us, but why is someone like Dr. Kevin Folta on a mission to stop our progress?

Newly discovered emails reveal that Folta received a $25,000 unrestricted grant from Monsanto, and even wrote to a Monsanto executive, “I’m glad to sign on to whatever you like, or write whatever you like,” and “I promise a solid return on investment.”

However, Folta previously denied ties to Monsanto, here are 9 different examples...

Food Babe keeps finding ways to piss me off more.... so despicable

But also, you have to understand in their universe, she's in the Army of Light

so this softens my dislike just a bit - a tiny bit, because if I shared her assumptions, it would be the most normal thing in the world to allege the life's work of a committed science educator and researcher is corrupted, and that the man is a "liar"

I've been active on twitter defending Folta, and his detractors don't seem to understand that "lie" has a meaning, implying active malice of intent and intention to decieve - that does NOT apply to Folta, who *believed it to be true* that he had "nothing to do" with Monsanto, because he was understanding that as "nothing significant to do with Monsanto" and has been consistent in stating that they have never influenced his research or affected his opinions...

The Warrior mentality is incapable of subtlety and complexity. Everything is clear black and white.
