Aidan Monaghan

A Freedom of Information Act request of the Federal Aviation Administration, seeking the last known serial number data of aircraft components contained by the aircraft used to carry out the 9/11 attacks, that are known to have been collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and National Transportation Safety Board from all 3 9/11 plane crash scenes, has been denied.

Why I'm Making These Inquiries

Let me state emphatically that these inquiries are not intended to provide aid and comfort to the 'no planes' or CGI crowd.

I feel that there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that 4 757/767 Boeing aircraft containing the said passengers and even hijackers were destroyed at the 9/11 crash scenes.

For example, the NYC medical examiners office ID'd most of the passengers aboard both planes at the WTC scene.

I do not feel that the 9/11 hijackers possessed the motivation or skills to pilot these aircraft.

Sorry for being so vague, but I still have several FOIA requests and 1 lawsuit pending with other agencies.

He still sounds like a "no Boeing at the Pentagon"-er.

(He's the guy that uploaded the Barbara Walters / John Edwards video discussed in Old School's Creepy thread.)

Cue twoofers with cries of "wooooo, this lack of evidence is a smoking gun".

I'm interested to hear comments on his applications from those who know more about FOIA requests than I do.

(In the meantime, I've just started reading this thread in which it appears an AA77 part with a serial number was photographed:

Sheesh all that guy has to do is go to Airliners.net and find out.

why is he going through the government for that information? the planes were owned, by their respective airlines. The govt. doesn't own that information.

I wonder... do we have anyone here who's a member there who can do that and trump Monaghan?

Hmmm, that's a good point.

OK, it turns out he wasn't clear in his introduction.

He's not asking for the plane's serial numbers as such, as he already has them (listed in another of his blog posts) but rather:

"That which reveals or indicates the unique identifying information (i.e.: serial numbers, etc.), of the Flight Data Recorders (FDR's) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR's) that were last contained within the following deregistered aircraft, used during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001."

The cited 12/4/2007 FAA FOIA request specifically requested the following:

"Documentation that reveals any unique identifying information (serial numbers, etc.), of the engines, landing gear or other components that may be deemed relevant."

He wants all the FBI and FAA's data for the cleanup of the plane parts at all sites.

This looks to me like another variation on the Pentagon videos. They were also witheld under exemption 5, I think, pre-the Moussaoui trial, as they were to be used as evidence. After the trial, they and various other documents (like all the NTSB reports) were released. My guess is this will be the same thing. His documents are in a group of investigative files that might be used in a future KSM trial, say, and therefore that's been used to say they can't be released.

None of this means they're tied up forever, though. Right now he could appeal on the grounds that some of the documents may be releasable (the FBI aren't supposed to withold everything if only a few qualify under this exemption).

He could also argue that the release of these documents cannot "reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings", though I don't hold out much hope there (the same could be said about the Pentagon videos, so I think they apply this to anything that might be shown in evidence). Over time it might be easier to argue that there aren't going to be any more "enforcement proceedings": if KSM & others haven't been tried in 10 years time, say, then it would seem unlikely that it'll ever happen, and therefore releasing the documents could not "reasonably" be expected to interfere with anything at all.

That could be quite difficult, but I do question why the FBI does not release the details. I don't see any harm in this. These things are normally (NOTE: Normally, and this was not a normal investigation) noted during the crash investigation.

In no way shape or form do I consider this "a coverup" but I would be interested in knowing WHY it is being with held.

He got the answer many truthers were hoping for. I think many of them get disappointed when the answer is "yes" to an FOIA request, as they know the end of another pet theory is just around the corner. Now they can whine and b**** about "the cover up" for another while longer.

TAM:)

Letting the NTSB guys do the investigation in the normal way, including publishing a detailed report would have helped quash a lot of conspiracy theories.

The NTSB investigates accidents, the FBI investigates crimes. Besides do you really think anything would "quash" conspiracy nuts?
