I use FF on my Kubuntu laptop. I've never had these kinds of problems.

Once, though, it locked up loading a 20 meg XML file in one tab and a 9 meg XML file in another.

As a web developer, I love the extensions such as FireBug and ScreenGrab and, well, tons of others.
