Firefox acting weird.

For some reason, Firefox has started doing a very strange thing, it only starts loading a page after 20 seconds (I have that little fastfox timer thing so I know how long).

Does anyone know how to sort this? (PS I don't want to re-get IE.)

Couple of things spring to mind:

One of the Firefox add-ons you have installed is misbehavin'. You can confirm/dismiss that by starting Firefox in safe mode (there should/might be a short cut in your programs menu).

The DNS server that your PC is using to resolve domain names is responding very slowly. Perhaps your ISP has a status page you could check.

Load a 2nd Ff using Firefox Portable-it won't add to the system registries and is standalone. See if it acts the same.

Also how do I uninstall certain things on firefox IE YakALike, 'cause it ain't in my "add/remove programs" list.

Firefox extensions are removed via the Firefox Tools|Add-ons menu item (might be a different name if you are running Firefox 1.5). You will be presented with a list of installed extensions, from which you can configure or uninstall them.
