Female, left wing, unmarried, childless, agnostic leader

Hell, the Greens vote has been going up and down like the Assyrian Empire!

The poll has seen Green voters who went to Ms Gillard swing back again - the Greens rose from 8 to 13 per cent.

The Coalition's primary vote is 42 per cent - the same as when Ms Gillard took over and the same as at the 2007 election.

Ms Gillard has a decisive 56-35 per cent lead over Tony Abbott as preferred prime minister, slightly better than in her first poll as PM.

Keep it up Julia, I'm looking forward to a Green senate this election :p

Seen on Twitter:

Every time I see Tony Abbott he's either running, hiking or swimming. That's not an election campaign. It's a tampon commercial.

She's heading to parliament house now and is expected to give a speech at noon. Abbott will do his speech probably half an hour later.

It's live on ABC1, 7 and 9 now.

EDIT: I flicked to Nine and they're saying the 21st of August is likely.

Will this be a record short campaign? I don't remember a shorter one.

Mind you it's not so bad for me. The company I work for contracts to the federal government, and the public service simply cannot make a decision until after the next government is sworn in. It's a frustrating time when we are constantly seeking to make improvements to the Australian training system. So a short period of paralysis.

I don't need a campaign. Like I said - it's an open-and-shut case, because the alternative is Abbott. I will happily and unhesitatingly vote Labour on the 21st.

If Julia Gillard loses she will be the shortest serving PM in Australia to lose office because of an election. She would be the 5th shortest serving PM.

It does not matter what way many of us vote, we are in safe seats. It is only people who live in marginal seats that matter.

Yeah, and I (and Damien) are in the most marginal I believe, McEwan.

Apparently, Eden-Monaro is one of the "indicator" seats - the party we've elected has been the party that has won government in the last thousand and four elections, or something.

I'm technically in Riverina. 33% 2 party preferred advantage for the Nationals.
