Don't we all.

You people do this to me all the time, and it's quite dishonest
I interpreted "you people" as lots of people.

Have you ever wondered why?

Boo hoo hoo.

Cause of the evil anti-Libertarian conspiracy that consumes this world, and prevents Libertarians from assuming their rightful place, haven't you been listening? Of course the days of our evil anti-Libertarian bigotness are numbered, since the Libertarian party despite our best efforts is experiencing a rapid growth that, if it continuous, will give them the presidency sometimes around year 22.000.

No, no, no. Libertarians will never get the precidency, because their "growth" is slower than the population growth.

It's like a race between a turtle and a roadrunner: The turtle may gain a few inches, but the roadrunner increasingly outdistances the turtle.

Their support is 0% and dropping.

Speaking of your statistics would you care to explain why did not include Burglary statistics from Mississippi, because "Burglaries are in a class of crime where "there is no force or threat of force against the victims."" and yet included Motor vehicle theft which according to the very same quote you posted in that post also doesn't include force? I mean it couldn’t be because Burglaries were higher and Motor vehicle theft was lower. :i:
From you own post:
""In the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The object of the theft-type offenses is the taking of money or property, but there is no force or threat of force against the victims. " [Emphasis added.]

Does this mean a buglar would never commit any other crime?

I forgot all about this topic. Sorry for the late reply.

Maybe if Luke spent some time with people who deal with homeless alcoholics on a daily basis he would get a better perspective and drop the chest thumping.

BWAH-HA-HA!

It just so happens I am someone who worked with homeless alcoholics on a daily basis! And I have been a drug and alcohol abuse volunteer in jails and prisons for over nine years.

When the street cretin first approached us, my attitude was "There but for the grace of God go I." It is always that way with me. That is one reason I did not give him money. I did not want to enable his drug problem. But I was more than compassionate and reasonable in my response and behavior toward him. I actuallly consider such people as my brothers under the skin, Fool.

But once he became aggressive, things change. I mean, would you walk up to total strangers and demand money and when they didn't hand any over, become more aggressive and even go so far as to strike their kid's chest? No, of course not. You have to be dangerously insane to do such a thing. Get it?

edited to add: Due to my experience with some of these people, I know exactly what goes through their minds. Yes, most of them are harmless, but I've had plenty of convicts tell me their thought processes during their lives of crime and living on the streets. I often come home from my prison visits with spiders crawling in my head.

I'm experienced enough to know, most of the time, who is dangerous and who isn't. And my instincts were screaming this guy was extremely dangerous.

This could be read as if you had volunteered to go to jail for drug and alcohol abuse for over nine years... ;)

Your malfunction. "You people" was meant to refer to the handful of people who keep doing this crap to me in almost every thread.

"Malfunction"?

Can we have the names of these people?

Shanek, can you disclose to us where you "look up" your martial arts facts, particularly the one about the nose-punch kill?

I'd kind of like to have a chance to check out that reference myself...I'm always ready to learn something new.

Here's some info on frontal sinus fractures:

http://www.emedicine.com/plastic/topic479.htm
http://www.utmb.edu/otoref/Grnds/frontalfx.htm

From the second link:

Fractures involving the frontal region represent some of the least common injuries that affect the facial skeleton. The incidence is 5 - 15% of all facial fractures. However, because the frontal area makes up part of the brain case, the fatal potential of these injuries is much greater than with other facial fractures. The majority of these fractures are caused by automobile accidents and assaults.

The force required to fracture the frontal sinus has been reported to be 800-2200 lb of force and is usually sufficient to cause significant associated injuries (Nahum, 1975). Some series report as many as 76% of patients presenting in a coma and as many as 93% with multiple associated facial and/or skull fractures (Rohrich, 1992; Wright, 1992).

Does anyone else see the problem with the nose-punch claim based on this quote from Shanek's first link?

Still don't understand simple English I see. You might want to take some English classes; it must be very difficult to live in the US with such a limited grasp of the language. Oh, and a little tip, these " little thingies, mean that I'm quoting somebody else.

Because you can't deal with the refutations? That's the only reason I can think of that someone would restate the claim over and over again with no regard for the arguments refuting it.

Are you saying it is not possible to die from a punch in the nose?

In any event, if no one else enlightens us, I'd be interested in what you see as the problem.

P.S.

In case no one else noticed, Shane admitted his mistake about the ' broken bone into the brain ' scenario.

I'm sure everyone here understands, that pointing out someone's mistake in one area, doesn't have any bearing on other points of discussion.

No! Wait ! I'm not at all sure about that.

I didn't even come close to saying this. I find it highly improbable though.

The force required to fracture the frontal sinus has been reported to be 800-2200 lb of force and is usually sufficient to cause significant associated injuries (Nahum, 1975).

You really don't see the problem with Shanek's "sinus destruction" claim about nose-punching here?

In case no one else noticed, Shane admitted his mistake about the ' broken bone into the brain ' scenario.

I noticed, but he basically changed the explanation for his initial claim that breaking the nose kills people.

Very interesting and informative link.

I'm sure that a lot of martial artists, professional boxers, and Olympic athletes would love to know how a human being can develop forces of that magnitude in a punch.

I know that Newton would probably want to be alive to see it.
