Heres the story taken from wikipedia:
"In the course of the trial it was revealed that the FBI had an informant, an Egyptian man named Emad A. Salem, a former Egyptian army officer. Salem claims to have informed the FBI of the plot to bomb the towers as early as February 6, 1992. Salem's role as informant allowed the FBI to quickly pinpoint the conspirators out of the hundreds of possible suspects.

Salem, initially believing that this was to be a sting operation, claimed that the FBI's original plan was for Salem to supply the conspirators with a harmless powder instead of actual explosive to build their bomb, but that the FBI chose to use him for other purposes instead. [3] He secretly recorded hundreds of hours of telephone conversations with his FBI handlers, made during discussions held after the bombings. They are currently in possession of the FBI.

In December 1993, James M. Fox, the head of the FBI's New York Office, denied that the FBI had any foreknowledge of the attacks."

Im not a conspiracy theorist and do not believe the US Government did 9/11 but still find this story somewhat odd, if anyone can provide a rational explaination that would be great.

wtc bombing

I looked up one time the address of the bombing on the WTC

not sure I had it right

but the street address I used showed up in three different areas of NYC

one was at the WTC

I was thinking if you were the FBI and you had a suspected time and address and you were a new guy, you could be sitting across the bridge in another part of NYC when the bombing van you were looking for blew up miles away! Or you were following it, lost it and then showed up at the correct address and wrong part of town.

just a dumb idea, but if the FBI was kind of into catching up to a bomb conspiracy, anything could go wrong

stupid idea but i have been at the right address and road, only in the wrong town part of a bigger city!

Yes, the '93 WTC bombing was an inside job too:

Tapes Depict Proposal to Thwart Bomb Used in Trade Center Blast; Plan to Foil Bomb Used at Trade Center

"Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.
The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad Salem, should be used, the informer said.
The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of hours of tape recordings that Mr. Salem secretly made of his talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as being in a far better position than previously known to foil the February 26th bombing of New York City's tallest towers.
The explosion left six people dead, more than a thousand people injured, and damages in excess of half-a-billion dollars. Four men are now on trial in Manhattan Federal Court [on charges of involvement] in that attack.
Mr. Salem, a 43-year-old former Egyptian Army officer, was used by the Government [of the United States] to penetrate a circle of Muslim extremists who are now charged in two bombing cases: the World Trade Center attack, and a foiled plot to destroy the United Nations, the Hudson River tunnels, and other New York City landmarks. He is the crucial witness in the second bombing case, but his work for the Government was erratic, and for months before the World Trade Center blast, he was feuding with the F.B.I.
After the bombing, he resumed his undercover work. In an undated transcript of a conversation from that period, Mr. Salem recounts a talk he had had earlier with an agent about an unnamed F.B.I. supervisor who, he said, "came and messed it up." "He requested to meet me in the hotel," Mr. Salem says of the supervisor.
"He requested to make me to testify, and if he didn't push for that, we'll be going building the bomb with a phony powder, and grabbing the people who was involved in it. But since you, we didn't do that."
The transcript quotes Mr. Salem as saying that he wanted to complain to F.B.I. Headquarters in Washington about the Bureau's failure to stop the bombing, but was dissuaded by an agent identified as John Anticev.
Mr. Salem said Mr. Anticev had told him, "He said, I don't think that the New York people would like the things out of the New York Office to go to Washington, D.C."
Another agent, identified as Nancy Floyd, does not dispute Mr. Salem's account, but rather, appears to agree with it, saying of the `New York people':
"Well, of course not, because they don't want to get their butts chewed." - New York Times (10/28/93)

Don't believe it was an inside job? Better tell that to the editor of WND:

The FBI and the mad bombers

"According to tapes played at the trial of the "terrorists" in that case, the FBI planted Emad A. Salem to infiltrate an Arab group in New York. His job was to act, again, as an agent provocateur -- inciting violent attacks. It was Salem who convinced the other participants to bomb the World Trade Center. When he was asked to assemble the bomb, he went to the FBI to ask for harmless powder to avoid a catastrophe. The FBI essentially cut him off. To make a long, complicated story short and simple: The FBI spent $3 million of your tax money to blow up the World Trade Center.

Remember this the next time you hear about a so-called "terrorist incident." And, tell your representatives and senators it's time to rein in the mad bombers and provocateurs in our own government." - WorldNetDaily (12/09/99)

oh no

another CT from, is this guy the Killtown Killtown site?

www.expertwitnessradio.org

There's a link somewhere on this site (don't know where) to a tape of Salem talking to his FBI handler. Basically, the story was that Salem had infiltrated the blind sheik's group and was asking to be reimbursed for some expenses that he had incurred. The handler refused. The informant then stopped talking to his handler and the bombing went ahead.

You can e-mail Mike Levine (at expertwitnessradio.org) about this. This particular case absolutely infuriates him. He's said on his show that this is, bar none, the worst handling of an informant in FBI history.

Incompetent, yes. But it's not criminal.

american hero alex jones says the fbi cooked the bomb, to date the fbi have never countered this.

Blowhard conspiracy kook Alex jones is not one to be trusted on anything. Only on how to make oneself look like a fool

fog

" Salem claims to have informed the FBI of the plot to bomb the towers"

not related but add to the fog of stopping actions that are just plots until they happen

Just think of all the plots and warnings everyday and how most go by without happening.

example; Before and during war in Bosnia, Nato soldiers working in Italy were warned of possible attacks from serbs while in Italy. While you walked around you would have to think who will have a gun and know you may be with NATO? Or the countless warnings issued from the State Department about travel during the war in Bosnia. I guess when you finally get shot it is a conspriacy theory.

How many other plots and warnings were made in a year? Thousands?

Sad to think if you were working the job and then after it happens you learn of your screw ups! Should have...

american hero despicable creep who accuses FDNY members, with no evidence, of abandoning their fallen brothers in order to participate in a real estate crime alex jones says the fbi cooked the bomb, to date the fbi have never countered this.
Fixed that for you, pdoherty.

Please explain why you have not spoken out against Alex Jones' accusations agains the FDNY, Larry Silverstein, The Port of New York and New Jersey Authority, and Rudy Giuliani.

He has produced no evidence to back his accusations with, so why in the world do you support his despicable behavior?

I await your answer.

Sorry for the derail, but pd keeps bringing up this "American hero."

Should the FDNY be required to "counter" Jones' baseless accusations, pdoherty?
