Fascinating Article About Octopuses

Leela: "You can't eat dolphin! Dolphins are intelligent!"

Bender: "Not this one! He blew all his money on lottery tickets."

Professor: "Pass me the brain speech center."

Of all places, I found this article link in a Cracked.com article about weird places animals have been found. The author brings up some excellent theories about why the octopus evolved the way it did and how, a lot like us, uses it intelligence to make up for a lack of a shell (or, in our case, claws and fangs.) It's a great read.

Michael

I've read those things about octopuses before. I'm told they make difficult subjects for study because they're just so darned ornery.

My favorites are the cuttlefish. The creatures are absolutely amazing. Nova had a TV program on them in the USA a few years ago.

It's impossible to exaggerate how .. clever.. these creatures are. I say clever for lack of a better word.

If I had to pick a candidate for a sentient, utterly alien creature who had found their way to earth from another world, I would vote for the cuttlefish.

I think this is the one. Cuttlefish are pretty amazing.

In the video, for some reason, there are 3 boxes in the first few minutes. I think they are links to other videos. You can just close each one at the upper right corner of the boxes. It's the first time I've seen such a thing on a Youtube video. It's a bit annoying.
