the truthers love to talk about possible american false flag attacks, such as the uss maine, the uss lusitania, the gulf of tonkin, operation northwoods, etc etc.

what i want to know is...are there comparable theories of soviet false flag attacks?

or were the soviet attacks just totally overt? who needs a false flag when you are illegally occupying poland, lithuania, latvia, estonia, czechoslovakia, hungary, romania, bulgaria, yugoslavia, moldavia, east germany, etc.

Well considering the Soviets controlled all media, I doubt they had much need for false flag operations. Rather, they just outright lied to their citizens. For example, the Soviets concealed the deaths of several cosmonauts in the 1960s.

I've seen reference to a couple of alleged Russian "false flag" operations on some conspiracy sites, but I have never read them in any depth. The ones that I can think of off the top of my head are the Beslan school seige and the 1999 Russian apartment bombings.

It seems that any national tragedy will soon sprout conspiracy theories like flowers in June. And yet, the truly sinister things that happen (the spy radiation poisoning, Valerie Plame's outing, and so on) die away after a brief flurry.

The irony meter is pinned... *sigh*

Also, the hippies turn out to be a false flag operation. I'm so glad I couldn't get in:

Alex Jones, of course, says everything that happens anywhere is a false flag. He has said the school seige and apartment bombings were "problem-reaction-solution." As usual, no evidence, no citations, no nothing.

It's just so terribly obvious to Alex. It actually pains him to live in a world so stupid.

The Lusitania was a British ship, the HMS Lusitania.

And I've never heard it used as evidence of a false flag.

It pains me to look at him, too!

Did you have to do that? I'm going to have nightmares tonight!

The ones that I can think of off the top of my head are the Beslan school seige and the 1999 Russian apartment bombings.

Not sure how Beslan could be a false flag, but the 1999 apartment bombing could well be.

After three bombing attacks that left 300 dead were blamed on the Chechens, a resident in a southern Russian city saw men planting sacks in the basement of his apartment. He called police who identified the sacks as being explosives. They cops then traced a car seen in the area to the FSB (former KGB). The FSB then ADMITTED planting the sacks but claimed it was part of a training run and that they actually contained sugar (the police still maintain it was a bomb).

Since then several journalists investigating the story have been killed.

On the flip side, Chechen militants DID attack Dagestan (next to Chechnya) the previous month and some DID threaten terror attacks in Russia...but no Chechen ever took credit for the bombings.

Not saying this proves beyond a doubt that it WAS a false flag op designed to start the second Chechen War (which the Russians have largely won) but it sure is a hell of lot more impressive than what the twoofers have to work with.

actually your both wrong, the Lusitania wasnt a royal navy ship, so it wouldnt have the prefix HMS, it was a passenger ship, so it was RMS

as for false flaggedness, the Lusitania had quite a few american passengers, and immediately after it was sunk germany accused britain of doing it to draw the US into the war

the Lusitania was also (illegally) carrying munitions, which caused secondary explosions leading to "second torpedo" and deliberate bombing theories (making sink faster causing more loss of life)

I think Lenin used the 1908 Siberian Meteorite incident as a "false flag operation" perpetrated by the Romanoffs, to justify Red October in 1917...

What's a sovite?
That'd be a German white guy. In German, it's "so weiss", but we use Germanized English whenever possible.

So, an Anti-SoVite is anyone who doesn't like angry white guys with IQs in the 80s...

The Soviets did use false flag tactics during WW2 often enough. I don't think there's much evidence that they used them after that period for anything other than recruiting agents for the KGB(or any of the other 500 000 names for that organisation).

Though in the post-Soviet period, the apartment bombings are awfully suspicious.

Ahh. Well, in that case, I am definitely an anti-SoVite ;)

Yer all a bunch of anti-sovites - you make me sick.

Spelling mistakes aside, it's stuff like this that makes me wonder about the state of 28th's mind. Didn't he accuse everybody in this forum of being communists early on? Of being in love with government? Then he has a go at us for being "anti-soviet"...

And that's before you mention that the Soviet Union was a pretty tyrannous regime, especially under Stalin - yet 28 apparently hates tyranny...

I hope his statement that he's quitting is sincere and that it indicates he's going to spend some time reflecting on his beliefs.

There is plenty still going on about Plame and Spy Poisoning. Madsen has a story today. Cloak & Dagger talks about both of these quite a bit.

Katyn Forest Massacre

I don't think it started out as a false flag operation but it eventually evolved into one. I am writing about the Katyn forest massacre of Polish officers by the Soviet NKVD in 1940. When the mass graves were discovered by enemy forces in 1943 the Soviet Union stated that this atrocity was committed by the nazis. At the Nuremberg trials the Soviet prosecutor even accused the defendants of committing this crime. The Soviet government also put up a memorial at the site which blamed them. This lie was adhered to for many years until the last president of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev admitted in 1990 that the Soviets were responsible.
