I was half listening to a bit of radio news tonight, and on interviewee was a Cuban from Florida who was lamenting that his friends and neighbors were being deported, and he had expected the targets to be the criminals, not them. But he also made it clear he still supports Trump!

Added note on the poster above. Of course the quality is terrible. It wouldn't be realistic if it had been done by a woke Union printer.

slight digression for those not American: when I was doing a bunch of campaigning and party stuff long ago, one of the cardinal rules for any Democratic literature, flyers, buttons or bumper stickers was the "union bug" somewhere visible. You would never see Democratic campaign stuff done by a non union shop.

A roofing company owner in Florida Keys who voted for President Donald Trump is now facing "a little buyer's remorse" after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained one-third of his workforce.

Vincent Cardina, whose team included six Nicaraguan workers, said he never expected his employees — whom he considered friends — to be targeted, as he believed the Trump administration’s immigration policies would focus on deporting criminals.

"It takes a toll. You get to know these guys. You become their friends. Not just an employer but a friend. And you see what happens to the family," he toldNBC 6 South Florida in an interview.

“The situation is blatantly not at all what they said it was,” Cardina admitted to NBC. His business, which has already been affected, joins others in the area that have seen similar fallout.

One landscaper he knows has even gone out of business after losing his entire crew. "It's quite a shock," Cardina added, reflecting on how the detentions are impacting both his business and his workers’ families.

And that's what's so good about having voted for the loser in a representative democracy:
It is so much easier to believe that your candidate, once elected, would have done whatever you hoped your candidate would do, instead of what the candidate promised the people who paid for the campaign.
"A drawback to this type of government is that elected officials are not required to fulfill promises made before their election and are able to promote their own self-interests once elected, providing an incohesive system of governance."

He is probably hoping for some kind of pardon, which may be feasible. After all, he has lived up to Trump's wish by helping populate the country with more blond children. However, letting him off the hook would set an unconvenient precedence and make the racism even more obvious.
In the meantime, the family is probably earning more money as long as he is detained than it would have if he had had to work for it: $57,000, an that was two weeks ago.

Let see, in the 2016 election, Trump talked about "mexican criminals" then suggested you cannot trust people of hispanic descent. In his first term his administration engaged in a policy of separating families. Project 2025 (a document that was written in part by several associates of Trump) talks about removing illegal immigrants "everywhere".

And now he is surprised that the man he supported would bring in a policy of rounding up "harmless" illegal immigrants in an abusive, heavy-handed way?

I am seeing that most of the "I didn't vote for this" are coming from people that only wanted to hurt other demographics, just not their own. In the rural MAGA areas, people are angry that undocumented workers and friends of theirs are getting deported. They thought only the "bad ones" would be deported.

trump has a long history with combat sports and some other entertainment spheres, like rap and wrestling. it’s not surprising he got endorsements from celebs in those circles that don’t really know what’s going on.

but it’s been hard to look past the last few months for anyone.
