Extreme drug induced lucid dreaming.

Ok I had a kidney operation and I was on painkillers. One of the medicines I was taking was a drug called roxicet. Roxicet is morphine based and I had never taken it before. It caused me to sleep 12 straight hours.

Ok it caused me to dream. I couldn't wake up.

Heres the dream. I dreampt that the earth had been invaded by aliens. I was scared at first because I believed the aliens could disguise themselves as humans. Then I came to believe that the aliens could only imperfectly duplicate humans and were easy to recognise. I sat with and spoke with the aliens and they said there were only a few of them and that they presented no problem. I spoke with an alien child who was snow white in color and who felt like a sack of flour when I hugged it. The dream meandered into a chaotic mess after that.

Anyone have a similar experience?

Ah, you had an 'opium den' experience. I've seen that a lot working med/surg.

I've been on and off Zyban to try and quite smoking and it's given me some wacked out vivid dreams. I enjoy them though...some are much better than the current TV line up.

"lucid dreaming" normally implies that the dreamer is aware he/she is dreaming, and can to some degree control the dream.
Intensely realistic dreams are a common side-effect of a variety of drugs.

I kinda sorta did control this dream. I forgot to tell you guys this. The aliens could reproduce two ways. Sexually and asexually. The sex wasn't erotic. It was tow creatures exchanging nulclei information like two amoebas and of course by merely splitting. The asexual offspring was male and the sexual offspring was female.

This dream was very garbled and was the result of the movie The Thing" and the science channel. I think anyway.
