Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

A few hours ago, northbound Amtrak northeast corridor trains resumed running as far as the Route 128 stop a few miles south of Boston.

That makes more sense. Cutting off everything northeast of NYC made it seem like some kind of regional WMD threat was going on; didn't seem reasonable for a case of homemade pipe bombs.

I think that the idea was multi-fold.

#1- you remove the easy ability to flee

#2- You remove a huge target, just in case the guy plans on continuing the terror.

#3- You also remove the possibility of him being caught on a subay, and innocent people getting into the crossfire, or becoming additional victims in case he has some type of suicide vest.

CNN street commentator: "The streets are completely empty. It's as if a bomb has gone off and no one is around."

No ****.

Another moment of glory in a week of glory for CNN.

And I smell another can of whup a-- for CNN being opened by Jon Stewart.

Thought the uncle was fairly impressive.

Agreed.
Particulary since so many of the reporters were being douchebags with really stupid and leading questions.
I work with a number of Russian Americas who are immigrants and they are worried about the black eye this might give the Russian community.

Quentin Tarantino couldn't have written this. From the FBI briefing, apparently they didn't rob the 7-11. They just happened to be in the store when it got robbed!

So what country can we invade to revenge this?
Luxembourg. You could do it tonight and have the country stabilized before breakfast tomorrow.
Too far, and too cold. I suggest somewhere in the Caribbean, maybe next January, when my neighborhood is iced up. I'll go along to keep the troops entertained with magic tricks and some music. Y'know, inspirational songs, like "We are the world," and "Bang, you're in Heaven."

FYI- The aunt also said "I hope this is not true".

She is clearly in shock, and isn't convinced that they are innocent.

So...bottom line, these guys were just misfit losers who targeted the marathon because the runners were achieving something; making them angry, bitter, and jealous?

Why wait for real information? We need to add another 10 pages of mental masturbation to the thread by 8pm!

Turning over criminal investigations to a bunch of Amateur G Man wannbes is a really great idea.
PUtting up photos of suspects and asking the public to keep an eye out for them is one thing;what is being talked about in this thread is something else entirely.
It could very easily lead to a kind of electronic lynch mob."Crowd Sourcing" justice is not a new idea. It happened quite a bit in the Old West. Read the novel "The Ox Bow Incident" or see the excellent movie made from it to see where "crowd sourcing" justice eventually leads to.

I think the spectators not the runners were the targets, and I think there is an emerging link to Islamic terrorism. Also, I don't think misfit applies.

Angry, bitter, jealous? I can easily see angry and bitter, but jealous of what?

Apparently a CNN correspondent thought he heard gunfire, and there appears to be some rapid movement on the part of the police in the area.
