I would think they weren't actually grenades, but some small bombs they made.

If they were actual grenades, that would need a lot of investigation as to who provided them.

Real military grenades are powerful and put out a lot of shrapnel.

Well, it would be the most accurate. (Unless it was found that they've had actual military training.)

Having said that. If you've thrown a rock, ball, etc... you can throw a grenade. Just have to remember the pin.
 
I think standards are lowering proportionately now. NPR is pre-empting Science Friday to carry on-going "coverage" of Boston events.

Out here, Science Friday doesn't air for another 11 hours. With any luck, there won't be anything on-going worth a pre-emption by that time.
 
My daughter goes to UMass-Dartmouth, where the still-living suspect went to school. He even stayed in the same dorm as my daughter. They've closed the campus, and my daughter's heading home. General freaking out seems to be the order of the day among the students.

I guess you can add that to the growing list of "connections" between the Boston Marathon bombing and 9/11, along with Seth Macfarlane and Joe Andruzzi.

These guys just seem like losers who couldn't fit into the US, or find success, so they lashed out. There has to be more to it than that though.
