Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Fox may have a scoop shot here. Not sure if this is a bomb bag in the red circle. Fox News put the circles, not me.

the boy with face blanked out, stood on railings is the poor child that was killed.

(eta not that this proves picture is the bomb though)

Umm, how exactly do you know that particular kid was the one who was killed?

On a related note, I'm amazed by the number of people here who seem able to determine so much from such fuzzy photographs. You'd think you folks were tracking down Bigfoot or something

More Internet detective work.

This appears to be Suspect 2 near Martin Richard (8-year-old victim), with the backpack on the ground.

That is hard to look at.

I think this is domestic... they might be middle eastern... but I think they are from US or Canada.... If that is the case it will not be long before they are caught.

.... and you know there were thousands of camera's yet to be combed over for these two... I'm sure there will be better pictures yet.

I just saw an image on Snopes which is being circulated by Truther-ilk, which sets a photo of a young man who lost both of his legs in the bombings, side-by-side with photos of a double-amputee Army vet who almost kinda-sorta doesn't entirely look unlike the former, implying that the Boston victim was in fact the Army vet dressed up as a "fake bombing victim".

Not playing this "identifying by fuzzy photo" game, sorry.

Hear, hear!

It's funny to see so much attention paid to fuzzy images on this site, when we try to explain to truthers why that's not a particularly useful task. (Though, of course, that photo showing the white-capped suspect after the blast really must be a match. The local radio was reporting the existence of such a photo during yesterday's confusion.)

Salah Barhoun, 17, said he went to the police yesterday to clear his name after he found himself tagged in pictures online. He had just gone to watch the race, he said, but soon after the explosions, he was singled out by internet sleuths as looking suspicious.

'Singled out by internet sleuths" is a recipe for disaster.

I'm sorry, but how do we know that kid is Martin Richard?

I know it's fuzzy, but to me the face looks very much like Martin's face. He had a rather distinct eye/forehead area based on the photos I've seen. Also looks like his mom in the picture, and the little girl next to him looks like his sister (based on the family photo that was published). Just an opinion. Of course we don't know for certain.

he looks just like him imo. but i dont know if its him or not.

either way, it doesnt mean the suspect in the backround is the bomber or the "bag" is the bomb anyhow.

Great, so let's post some more ambiguous photos from Fox News, because they might or might not actually be substantive.

Holy crapballs, the critical thinking around here has suddenly gone all to hell.

We don't. That's why I said "appears to be". There are similarities to photos that have been published.

Not my claim. I should maybe have been clearer on that.

But the guy in the white hat does look like he's Suspect 2.

This.

The poring over supposed clues is one thing, but naming actual people (who in this case his family must already worried sick after his disappearance) is reprehensible. Just ask Richard Jewell.

Yup. And based upon the basic fact that, by the time this video and these photos were released publicly (days after the bombing), the supposed "persons of interest" could literally be anywhere on the planet, we can now all feel perfectly justified in eyeing our neighbors who just don't look right.

i didnt post anything from fox news. the photograph has one of the official suspects in it, so it has some substance according to the FBI.

i agree about all the online random speculation and accusations towards innocent people is out of order.

Fine question. Especially since someone also has reference this page, which calls a completely different kid Martin.

Initial reports suggested that Martin was killed in the first blast, and current reports suggest that the white-capped man placed the second bomb. Of course, there's a lot of confusion, and I'm not at all certain where Martin was killed.
