I've worked with security cameras quite a bit over the years, most recently a new building install in 2009. That doesn't look like any camera setup I've ever seen. I'm not saying it isn't, just that I don't think it's likely.
Maybe a forumite in Boston can confirm it, when the area ceases to be a crime scene that is.
I'm not sure why they'd need a lighting fixture there, since Back Bay streets have good lighting regardless. In fact, you can't see it in your pictures, but in google maps it's pretty clear that there's a lighting fixture right by that corner on Boylston. However, the explosion was across the street diagonally from the fixture, and I'd think that L&T would mostly be interested in people getting too close to their windows.
