Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

Oklahoma City bombing

Timothy McVeigh was erroneously associated with the Militia by the media following his arrest, but the Michigan Militia was later cleared of any involvement with McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing by the FBI.

CBS has confirmed Saudi national story.

From cbsnews.com

CBS News senior correspondent John Miller reports that a Saudi national is being questioned by authorities. He was seen "acting suspiciously" running from the explosion and a civilian chased him down and tackled him. He was turned over to Boston Police and is being questioned by FBI. He is being cooperative and denies any involvement.

"This could mean a lot, or this could mean very little," Miller said. "It's too soon to call him a suspect."

An act of terror commited by a "Lone Wolf" because of political beliefs is just as much an act of terror as one commited by a group.

I'm not seeing any symbolic association here as of yet. The Marathon? Not symbolic. Tax day? Not symbolic considering the location, a govt. building would have been the likely target. The same thing for Patriots day, maybe the USS Constitution as a possible target.

To me this looks like terror for the sake of terror and not much more than that. I think that it was a target of opportunity that was easy to infiltrate. If the race was yesterday or tomorrow then that's when the attack would have happened.

Hmmms, could just be a case of running from big explosion while Arab.

[Update, 6:49 p.m. ET] Boston cell phone services were overloaded in the wake of the blast, slowing the city's network dramatically and hampering the investigation in the early going, federal law enforcement officials told CNN.

Unconfirmed rumors began circulating on social media and elsewhere that law enforcement had shut down cell service to prevent more explosives from being detonated remotely. But mobile companies were saying that was never the case, CNN's Doug Gross reports.

"Verizon Wireless has not been asked by any government agency to turn down its wireless service," a spokesman for that company told CNN. "Any reports to that effect are inaccurate."

In other media reports, Sprint similarly denied being asked to shut down service.

Update 4:07 p.m.: Newtown families were reportedly seated in the VIP section right by where the explosions went off. There's no word whether they are among the 23 injured and two dead from the explosions.
