Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

I Agree. If it was a Mid East group,it would have been a more massive attack and even worse then it is.

Hurrah for the Mid East benchmark in blowing people up for no valid reason. Let us learn, let us learn, rejoice etc....

Tax day?

In Boston?

Also hit JFK library.

This is domestic terrorism.

And it's a state holiday called Patriot's Day. Hate to jump to any conclusions, but finding it hard to imagine any other train of thought.

This is domestic terrorism.

Has that been confirmed?

I'm betting this was one domestic toad who wrapped some pipe bombs in nails and duck tape and left them in a gym bag in the crowd on a timer.

I wouldn't be surprised if this has something to do with one of the big social issues in the public discourse right now - mainly immigration or gay marriage. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's a famously liberal city.

There are reports that police detonated a third, unexploded, bomb. Whether it was actually a third bomb, or they were just taking precautions and blowing up something suspicious, hasn't been revealed yet.

MSNBC says police are dismantling 2 more devices.

Oklaholma city was the one time a domestic group pulled off a mass casualty attack;happens a lot more with the Mideast groups.

I disagree. For reference to domestic events see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_terrorism_in_the_United_States. Compare with teh foreign-orchestrated attacks at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism_in_the_United_States. The MidEast groups are larger in the Middle East, where they're "domestic" to their own countries, but on U.S. soil it's not so clear cut.

But this is neither here no there, so I'll refrain from sidetracking this thread further.

ETA: Also, just to clarify, I'm not arguing that this wasn't most likely domestic (due to the date and the targets), but just arguing that the size of the attack is not really an indicator of domestic vs. foreign.

The Boston Marathon is always held on Patriot's Day. Isn't that much more likely to be the reason this day was chosen?

I'm going with the Muslims.

If it's not muslims.... it's tea party extremists... and if it's not them... then It's a crazy Norwegian.

Cold logic would seem to dictate as much. But of course, I'm trying not to jump to too many conclusions yet. Not easy.

It appears there were 2 other devices found, that are being dismantled. Both found in trash cans.

Wouldn't be the first time terrorists took cues from and shared notes with each other. IIRC cluster attacks started with the Brigade Rossi, not al-Qaida.
