'Exorcist, demonologist, ghost hunter' killed to 'protect family', court hears

A woman accused of killing her former partner was trying to protect her family from an "exorcist, demonologist and a ghost hunter", a NSW court has heard.

The 41-year-old alleged victim from the Sydney suburb of St Mary's, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found dead in October 2014 at Wiseman Ferry on NSW central coast.

In opening remarks in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday, Crown prosecutors said an autopsy indicated the man had likely been assaulted for several hours before his death, with numerous cuts and bruises and damage to his skull.

Why did she feel the need to be protected from him?

Is she a demon, or a ghost? Perhaps she's a ghost demon. Legal representation could prove problematic in that case...

Well, when I was a churchgoer, my church would have branded someone who mucked about with demons to be inherently dangerous, but then again they also performed exorcisms. Their approach would have been that the sort of person who might be described as an "exorcist, demonologist and ghost hunter" would definitely be dangerous to themself and others. Although in their case they would have prayed and witnessed and tried to get them to join their church rather than killing them.

A crazy person believed that her partner was possessed by demons... What else is new? I am more interested in the reason why the man's name was withheld; in the USA his name would have appeared in the media after his close relatives had been notified about his death.

Her defense is not unlike the battered-woman defense.
